LeSean McCoy sounds off on Eric Bieniemy after argument with Mahomes

Former Kansas City Chiefs running back LeSean McCoy spoke out on the argument between Patrick Mahomes and Eric Bieniemy.

Former Kansas City Chiefs running back LeSean McCoy spoke out on the argument between Patrick Mahomes and Eric Bieniemy.

Bieniemy, the Chiefs OC, was seen arguing with star quarterback Patrick Mahomes during the Week 3 game against the Indianapolis Colts. McCoy wrote on Instagram, “All Bienemy does is argue with the players…KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT passing or PLAY CALLING.”

The game ended in a tough 20-17 loss for the Chiefs, and Mahomes just wanted to score. He also spoke out on the argument, explaining that it wasn’t necessarily an altercation between him and his coach.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes ‘just wanted to score’

Mahomes had a tough first half of the game, which is what the discussion between him and his coach was about.

“I mean, at the end of the day I wanted to go try to score. I mean, that’s just who I am. We were in a tough situation. I believe it was second or third-and-20, something like that. Probably the smart decision was to just take – we got the ball at the half and just go to halftime, but I’m always going to be wanting to score. I pretty much just said, ‘Let me have a chance at it,’ and then he was just, like, ‘Let’s get back in the locker room, and we’ll get something going for the next half.’ I guess, I don’t know if that’s an altercation, but that was the end of the conversation.” -Patrick Mahomes said.

McCoy, however, has repeated history of calling out Bieniemy. In May, he was a guest on the I Am Athlete podcast and stated, “Listen, [some] players he talks to them a certain way and some players would take it. I wouldn’t take it, like ‘whoa.’ … That’s the reason why that every year they hype him up to get a job, and then when the time comes, nobody hires him because they know what type of coach he really is.”

Whatever the situation may be, hopefully Mahomes will be able to perform well through it.
