Deuce Vaughn, Jalen Tolbert, Mazi Smith Impress

With the Dallas Cowboys falling short to the Jacksonville Jaguars, we saw glimmers of hope within the team and room for improvement.

Winners and Losers From Dallas Cowboys vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Winner | Jalen Tolbert

Jalen Tolbert had had one of the best training camps on the roster. He has acknowledged that his biggest issue last year was a lack of confidence.

Not only has Tolbert found that confidence, but he has also become a solid piece of the Cowboys’ offense.

He put the Cowboys on the board with a 17-yard catch in the end zone.

Winner | Deuce Vaughn

Deuce Vaughn continues to be the people’s choice.

He had his welcome to the NFL moment with his first career touchdown and was a reliable guy at all cylinders.

Vaughn had one touchdown, the biggest highlight for the Cowboys during the game.

Winner | John Stephens Jr.

John Stephens Jr. has had a great training camp, so seeing him come into his own during the game was unsurprising.

On a fourth-down attempt, he had a clutch catch in the end zone from Will Grier.

Winner | DeMarvion Overshown

DeMarvion Overshown had big moments during the game that showed what a threat he can be to the Dallas Cowboys’ defense. He showed his ability to be disruptive, especially with his coverage and ability to follow the ball.

At this rate, it is clear that the Cowboys could have a beast in the making.

It is also worth noting that he led the team huddle before the game.

Winner | Damone Clark

Overshown and Damone Clark were the dynamic duo of the night. Both guys were shutting down plays and showing the strength of the Cowboys’ linebacker room.

Clark had six total tackles, two of which were solo.

Winner | Mazi Smith

This doesn’t come as a surprise to many that Smith had a good game, as he’s been saying how he was ready to “hit someone.”

Smith was physical during this game, even getting double coverage. Although he acknowledged needing to be quicker, his strength and physicality were noticeable.

Loser | Interior Offensive Line

This game indicated that the Cowboys’ offensive line needs work. Depth is an issue that needs to be addressed quickly. The line allowed four sacks during the game and struggled with the pass pro.

This is an area of emphasis for the Cowboys and needs to continue going into the rest of training camp.

Loser | Malik Davis

Davis didn’t have his best night, only stacking up three rushing yards and 19 passing yards during the game. He struggles with pass pro, which caused one of the sacks during the game.

For a room stacked with talent and tough competition, Davis can come back next week with a vengeance to do better.
