Let’s break down the five best fantasy football pickups to make for Week 3.
Week 3 of the NFL season has officially wrapped up, and there continue to be plenty of surprises for fantasy football owners.
On Sunday, the top-five scoring running backs were Khalil Herbert, Derrick Henry, Jamaal Williams, Devin Singletary, and Cordarrelle Patterson. Only one of those players (Henry) was started in more than 50 percent of ESPN leagues.
Wide receivers followed a similar pattern. On Sunday, the top-five scoring wide receivers were DeVonta Smith, Mack Hollins, Marquise Brown, Russell Gage, and Zay Jones. Only one of those players (Brown) was started in more than 50 percent of ESPN leagues.
Let’s break the five best pickups to make for Week 3. Every player listed is available in more than 50 percent of ESPN leagues.
5. WR Zay Jones, Jacksonville Jaguars
Rostered: 8.6%
In perhaps the most shocking game of the weekend, the Jaguars destroyed the Los Angeles Chargers 38-10. Jones was at the forefront of Jacksonville’s offensive success. He had 10 receptions for 85 yards and a touchdown on a game-high 11 targets. Early in the season, Jones is showing a lot of promise as a fantasy option. In Week 1, he had six receptions for 65 yards on nine targets against the Washington Commanders.
In fact, Jones is currently 22nd among NFL wide receivers in targets this season, which is notable for a player with a rostered percentage of 8.6 percent. This season, Jones has actually been targeted more times than Deebo Samuel, Terry McLaurin, or DJ Moore.
There is no reason to believe that Jones will not continue to receive this level of volume. He is an excellent under-the-radar pickup in fantasy leagues.
