Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes literally get last laugh over ‘Burrowhead’ (Video)

The first thing Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes did after beating the Bengals in the AFC Championship Game was to have a good laugh at “Burrowhead.”

The Kansas City Chiefs are heading back to the Super Bowl and if you think the “Burrowhead” trash talk from Cincinnati before the game didn’t play a part, you’re kidding yourself.

Travis Kelce pretty much confirmed that when he jumped into Patrick Mahomes’ postgame interview and immediately referenced the term coined by Bengals cornerback Mike Hilton.

“Burrowhead my a**,” Kelce shouted after a hefty bit of laughter.

During the trophy presentation, Kelce directed his ire at the Cincinnati mayor who dropped a “Burrowhead” reference during a city council meeting and made a proclamation claiming Joe Burrow is Mahomes’ daddy.

“I’ve got some wise words for that Cincinnati mayor. Know yo role and shut yo mouth, you Jabroni,” the tight end said.

‘Burrowhead’ clearly helped motivate Chiefs in win over Bengals

Winning the AFC Championship Game and going to the Super Bowl was certainly motivation enough for players like Mahomes and Kelce to give their all against Cincinnati. However, every athlete needs some extra juice to push them through the most difficult moments.

And it was a difficult night for both quarterback and tight end. The former was playing on a high ankle sprain and looked pained on his feet for much of the night. The latter was questionable with a back injury going into the game and had to play through that.

The lesson for the Bengals? Don’t give all-time greats like Mahomes and Kelce any bulletin board material. They’ll make you pay for it.

The Chiefs rode a last-second field goal to a 23-20 victory with Mahomes throwing two touchdown passes and Kelce catching seven passes for 78 yards and a score. With injuries striking JuJu Smith-Schuster and Kadarius Toney, it was up to Marquez Valdes-Scantling to step up with six key catches for 116 yards and a touchdown.
