Jalen Ramsey has epic tweet as blockbuster Dolphins trade rumors swirl

The Miami Dolphins could land one of the best defensive backs in all of football, as they’re closing in on a trade for Rams CB Jalen Ramsey.

Miami is just one of several teams interested in trading for Jalen Ramsey, the key difference being that the Dolphins are reportedly the 28-year-old’s preferred choice.

Per Josina Anderson of CBS Sports, there’s a high likelihood that Ramsey ends up a Miami Dolphin in the coming days. A deal is not finalized, but the Dolphins have a significant edge over other potential suitors.

Ramsey is expected to be one of the first dominos to fall in the trade market, with Eagles CB Darius Slay likely to follow. Philadelphia gave Slay’s agent permission to seek a trade just days ago. The compensation for Ramsey will go a long way in determining how much a player like Slay can fetch on the trade market.

NFL rumors: Miami Dolphins closing in on Jalen Ramsey trade

Ramsey is already signed long-term, which makes him an attractive fit in Miami. The Rams signed Ramsey to a five-year, $100 million contract prior to the start of the 2020 season. In three-plus season with Los Angeles, Ramsey had 10 interceptions, 209 tackles and two sacks.

While Ramsey’s contract is intimidating from the outside looking in, the fine print suggests otherwise. There is just $5 million guaranteed remaining on Ramsey’s contract, which means the Dolphins are inheriting very little risk. Ramsey also has an out in his deal after the 2024 season.

Ramsey, for what it’s worth, seems excited about a prospective trade, as evidence by his recent social media activity.

The Dolphins took a large step forward this season, especially offensively. If Tua Tagovailoa can come back healthy, Mike McDaniel’s crew should be a playoff team again.

Defensively, they have some work to do. Acquiring Ramsey is a good first step towards fixing the secondary.
