Despite losing in an upset to the Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce took ownership for the loss, and the Kingdom praised their warrior on Twitter.
In a shocker of an upset, Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs lost their first game of the season to Matt Ryan and the Indianapolis Colts.
After the game, Kelce, who dropped a crucial pass in the endzone, apologized to the Kingdom, citing how he would work to make it right.
Needless to say, the Kingdom was not going to blame their warrior of a tight end for his mistake when it was clear that Chris Jones’ excessive trash talk played much more of a factor in the loss than the dropped pass. In fact, the Kingdom took to Twitter to defend Kelce.
Kansas City Chiefs fans pounce to defend Travis Kelce for his apology for not stepping up when it mattered most.
Despite the loss, Travis Kelce had four catches for 58 yards and a touchdown. However, his drop in the endzone gave new life to Matt Ryan and the Colts. Still, it’s not on him. If anyone deserves any blame, it would be Jones, but even though he made a mistake, he should not be criticized for it.
Still, this is a tough loss for the Chiefs, who have no time to sit around and mope. They have a date in Tampa Bay with the Buccaneers, their first trip back to where they lost the chance to repeat as Super Bowl Champions. No doubt they have revenge on their minds, especially as the mastermind behind the blowout, Todd Bowles, is now coaching the Bucs as the head man.
There is a lot to look forward to next Sunday night. Also, don’t expect Travis Kelce to drop a notch next week. If anything, he will be even more motivated, which should be a concern. Plus, with both teams coming off a loss, expect more intensity and consistency from both sides.
