Wide receiver Brandin Cooks has been with the Dallas Cowboys for about two months, and he is already a huge fan of quarterback Dak Prescott.
This offseason, the Dallas Cowboys decided to make some changes to their offense. They replaced offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and Brian Schottenheimer, and released running back Ezekiel Elliott. To address their need at the wide receiver position, the Cowboys gave a call to the Houston Texans and were able to acquire Brandin Cooks.
It has been around two months since he arrived in Dallas, and Cooks has already begun hyping up quarterback Dak Prescott. Cooks said that while he has played with some good quarterbacks throughout his career, he called Prescott “special.”
“I’ve been around some great ones, and we’ve been throwing and I got to tell you, that guy can sling that ball,” said Cooks. “I’m just excited to be able to get going, no doubt, that’s all I can say. He’s special. That ball comes out of his hand, he’s special with it. His natural born leadership. There’s been a couple of guys I’ve been around that can lead a team, and the way that he’s doing it, to be this young, is unbelievable for sure.”

That is a huge compliment to Prescott for sure, considering Cooks caught passes from the likes of Drew Brees and Tom Brady early on in his career. But in the past two years with the Texans, he received passes from the likes of Davis Mills and Kyle Allen.
Last season with Mills and Allen throwing him the ball in Houston, Cooks recorded 57 receptions for 699 yards and three touchdowns on 93 targets.
Prior to last season, the Cowboys traded away Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns, and his presence was greatly missed. While CeeDee Lamb stepped up and became Dallas’ undisputed top wide receiver, the Cowboys didn’t have much pass catching options to target that could make a difference against strong defenses. Look no further than their Divisional Round loss to the San Francisco 49ers. While the game was winnable, they were missing that extra piece in the passing game that could have propelled the team to victory.
Now, Cooks will be near the top of the depth chart alongside Lamb and Michael Gallup. The hope for Dallas is that the veteran wide receiver can help put the offense over the edge and to make a push for their first Super Bowl appearance since 1995.
