Could Seattle Seahawks legend Bobby Wagner return to his former stomping grounds? A recent change to his Twitter profile may hint at his mood on the subject.
Bobby Wagner remains one of the best linebackers on the open market. He signed a short-term deal with the Los Angeles Rams last offseason, and put up borderline All-Pro numbers.
At an advanced age, Wagner will sign almost exclusively short-term contracts at this juncture. The Seahawks, despite letting him go just a year ago, can admit their mistake and bring him back into the fold on a surprisingly-competitive Seattle team.
Wagner altered his cover photo on Twitter to Lake Union with a view of the Seattle skyline.
Well, that’s more than just a little notable.

Per the Tacoma News Tribune, the Seahawks are very interested in a reunion with Wagner:
“Multiple league sources told The News Tribune at the NFL scouting combine Tuesday the Seahawks are keenly interested in re-signing the 32-year-old Wagner to play again in the middle of their defense in 2023. The Los Angeles Rams reportedly have given the six-time All-Pro linebacker permission to talk to other teams about a new contract, in advance of the Rams releasing him and becoming a free agent.”
Seattle’s top priority this offseason is said to be re-signing Geno Smith, one way or another. The Seahawks would rather not go fishing for another quarterback in free agency, though drafting a young signal-caller is still on the table.
The best organizations can admit when they make mistakes. Seattle appears to be doing that with Wagner. John Schneider acknowledged the Hawks have a lot of work to do this offseason in their post-Geno plans, again per the Tacoma News Tribune.
“We know where we have to be in order to be able to field a championship team. And you want to…it’s two-fold, right? You want to max out everybody’s opportunities for themselves (financially), and then max out the opportunity for the organization at every position, especially these positions that you feel you need to improve on.”
Wagner could be the answer to many of those problems, should the Seahawks choose that route.
