Joe Mixon and the Bengals seem to be an at impasse. It has been reported that the Bengals are expected to ask the former Pro Bowl running back to accept a pay cut, otherwise, he will be released.
Currently dealing with a legal matter, Mixon has no remaining guaranteed money on his contract. Unfortunately, this is not the first incident in which Joe Mixon has been involved. With that being said, the Bengals could be looking for a fresh start at the running position and move on from the Oklahoma alum.
In six seasons with the Bengals, Joe Mixon has handled 200 or more carries in four. He has eclipsed the coveted 1,000-yard rushing total in three different seasons while solidifying his status as a workhorse running back. At 26 years old, he has plenty left in the tank.
These 3 teams should snatch up Joe Mixon if they have the chance
3. Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins retained their top two running backs from last season, Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson. Both running backs have shown an inability to stay on the field consistently and handle a large workload. Neither player should prevent Miami from pursuing Joe Mixon.
Unfortunately, Raheem Mostert is no stranger to injury. Since entering the league in 2015, he has just four seasons with 11 or more games played. Mostert just received a career-high 181 rushing attempts this season.
Prior to that, he never recorded more than 137 carries in a season. At age 31, Raheem Mostert has struggled with injury throughout his career and could benefit from reduced usage. His production dipped as the 2022-23 season progressed.
Jeff Wilson has also had his fair share of injury woes since entering the NFL. In four seasons, he hasn’t been able to play more than 12 games in a season. Similarly to Mostert, he too just recorded a career-high in rushing attempts (176).
Both running backs signed team-friendly contracts this offseason. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel showed a desire to establish the running game for this offense and Mixon makes for a worthwhile addition to an already-explosive offense.
Joe Mixon would be an exciting way to complement Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Miami’s passing attack.
