The Minnesota Vikings have moved from their long-time star wide receiver Adam Thielen.

Minnesota Vikings, how can’t you not be Thielen this after all this time together, y’all?

Shockingly, the Vikings have released their native son in former Skol brother Adam Thielen. While he is good enough to be a huge piece on some other team’s receiving corps, the news of the Vikings punting on Thielen is still quite upsetting. The man lived and breathed purple and gold. Now, he must travel to another, and almost certainly warmer, metroplex to find new employment.

If you do not have Sarah McLachlan tears streaming down your face, you are not a human being.

So … let’s put Thielen on a new NFL franchise after the Vikings’ fate fell short this time yet again.

Green Bay Packers probably have a better feeling on Thielen than any other team

One way or another, the Green Bay Packers need to improve their receiving corps. They have talented, young wideouts on their roster, but could use a veteran pass-catcher to help even things out not named Randall Cobb. Aaron Rodgers may be tight with Cobb, but he is only in Green Bay for as long as Rodgers wants to play there. Even with Jordan Love, the Packers may want Thielen.

No matter what happens in the latest eye-gouging saga known as the Aaron Rodgers chronicles, it still serves Matt LaFleur and the boys to go out and win games anyway. He may have an affinity for pounding the rock, but he is going to have to put his faith in Love if Rodgers is not for long in Green Bay. The best way to bring Love along is to add a trusted, veteran wide receiver like Thielen.

In truth, Thielen probably fits into what the Packers are trying to do offensively, regardless of what the team’s plans are long-term at quarterback. He can help bring Love along, as well as help Rodgers get this underachieving team over the top and finally back to the Super Bowl. Thielen is about ball, which makes him a great fit to play in a place like Green Bay. He is used to the cold.

Thielen swapping out purple for green and doing the reverse Greg Jennings would be interesting.
