Should he go to the right situation, former Tennessee star wide receiver Jalin Hyatt could be an absolute menace at wide receiver.
Hyatt leaves Knoxville as a unanimous All-American and a Biletnikoff winner. He was instrumental in the Volunteers turnaround under Josh Heupel this past season. With Hendon Hooker throwing him the ball and Cedric Tillman in and out of the lineup, Hyatt more than made the most of his opportunities. It is why Hyatt projects as a late first-round pick in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft.

The best thing the Los Angeles Chargers can do is give starting quarterback Justin Herbert all the weapons he needs to succeed. He is coming off his first career playoff game, albeit one of the worst collapses we have seen this side of 28-3. Fortunately, the Bolts have a well-respected general manager in Tom Telesco who crushes it in NFL Drafts. Hyatt could be there at No. 21…
No, Hyatt is not going to be the first wide receiver taken this spring, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. He caught passes from the SEC Player of the Year in Hooker, who will also be getting serious looks as a quarterback prospect, albeit in the day-two range. Where Hyatt going to the Chargers makes sense is he can open up the field and make plays in the vertical passing game.
So aligning oneself with a hall-of-fame-level talent in Herbert and an on-the-rise offensive coordinator in Kellen Moore is not a bad place to be. Of course, few teams are as snakebitten to hell historically as the Chargers. They do have a reputation for being cheap, especially when it comes to their head coaches. Brandon Staley be damned, Hyatt fits what the Chargers are doing.
Hyatt could be coming off the board a little bit earlier than this, but No. 21 to the Bolts feels right.
