Is Darren Waller the best athlete in his relationship? There’s a debate to be had. The New York Giants tight end has had a year of changes in 2023, including a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders and marrying Kelsey Plum in March.
While Waller will start the next chapter of his NFL career this season, Plum is trying to build on her current one.
Kelsey Plum’s Career
Plum is a multi-time WNBA All-Star who currently plays for the Las Vegas Aces. Plum made the WNBA First Team and won the WNBA Championship with the Aces in 2022. After a slow start to her professional career, she’s found her stride after winning the Sixth Player of the Year in 2021.
However, Plum has always been uber-talented. The Aces — formerly known as the San Antonio Stars — selected Plum with the first overall pick in the WNBA Draft in 2017, and she has been with the organization even through the move in 2018.
Plum came onto the basketball scene during her time at the University of Washington. In her senior season, she averaged 31 points per game. That earned her Naismith College Player of the Year, AP Player of the Year, Dawn Staley, John R. Wooden, and Honda Sports awards.

She also earned gold medals at the 2020 Olympic Games in 3×3 teams and the 2018 and 2022 World Cups in Spain and Australia.
How Did Darren Waller and Plum Meet?
The exact origin story of the two athletes’ love story isn’t known but the two started dating in 2022. It’s safe to assume their teams moving to Las Vegas helped them cross paths.
After the Aces brought the city its first professional championship – right before the Las Vegas Golden Knights followed with their Stanley Cup victory in 2023 – Plum told PEOPLE Magazine what the city meant to her.
“The Vegas vibe has been unbelievable. I didn’t realize the impact that we would have on this community. They just appreciate winning. We’re the first professional franchise to bring a championship to Las Vegas and the people really are just hyped and proud.”

While Plum shared her great feelings about the city of Las Vegas, her thoughts about Las Vegas Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels aren’t as cheery.
Waller and Plum got married on March 4, 2023, a few weeks before Waller was traded by the Raiders. That prompted ESPN analyst and former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III to tweet that “McDaniels is NOT a romantic.”

The distance doesn’t appear to detour Waller and Plum’s relationship. While Waller ramps up for his eighth season in the NFL, Plum is leading the Aces’ pursuit for a second straight title. The power couple will glow together.
