Will Anderson has long been seen as the top defensive prospect in the 2023 NFL Draft, so where will he land?
Despite quarterbacks dominating much of the discussion, it is Anderson who has emerged as a serious threat to go as high as No. 2 in the NFL Draft according to betting markets with just over a week to go until the first round.
While it’s not a done deal that Anderson will go second, he is firmly in the top six discussion and it’s assumed he won’t be waiting very long to hear his name called.

Currently, Anderson is the favorite to go No. 2 to the Texans, but its far from a certainty. The Alabama pass rusher is +200 while a pair of quarterbacks, Will Levis and C.J. Stroud are +200. Fellow pass rusher Tyree Wilson is +400 as of this writing.
It’s tough to decipher what Houston is going to do with this pick, who was reportedly high on Bryce Young, but Young is now -1200 to be the No. 1 overall pick.
If Anderson’s Alabama teammate is off the board its unclear what the team will do, but it’s been floated out there that the team isn’t in love with any other quarterback and could opt for defense or to trade out. Here is what ESPN’s Adam Schefter had to say about the state of the top four earlier this week and how two defenders could go in the top four.
It’s widely assumed Anderson and Wilson will be the first two defenders off the board, especially at No. 2 and No. 3, which is currently held by the Arizona Cardinals. The Cards have been trying to trade out of this pick but haven’t had any luck so far, so if they stand pat, it’s likely that the team goes defense. Anderson is tied at the top of the odds board to go third with quarterbacks Stroud and Anthony Richardson at +250. Wilson is +500 to go third, firmly in the mix.
