Week 2 Sunday Afternoon NFL Prop Bets To Target Include Cam Akers, Rashaad Penny, And Tee Higgins

If you’re planning to make Week 2 NFL prop bets, there are some fascinating “late” Sunday afternoon contests today, beginning at 4:05 p.m. ET. We’ve analyzed three of these games’ highest-probability scripts to assess the most likely outcomes, including which players are in line to thrive more than anticipated, as well as fall short of expectations. All prop bets are based on FanDuel Sportsbook or BetMGM.

Top NFL prop bets to bet today

The following NFL betting recommendations are based on proprietary PFN predictive analytics culled from decades of NFL historical data. Using this data, I’ve built dozens of models showing actionable probabilities of better-than-expected and worse-than-expected outcomes. Criteria such as age, durability, shifting personnel, scheduling, and other factors help shape these final assessments.

Rams vs. Falcons Week 2 prop bets

In a game that should go the Los Angeles Rams’ way (and that might be an understatement), I’m betting on the Rams to score first. That opens the door to some intriguing first-TD prop bets below.

Additionally, Allen Robinson should rebound after last week’s disastrous debut in LA. Expect Matthew Stafford to look his way more often, thanks in part to the luxury of not relying on Cooper Kupp to carry this team to victory.

Darrell Henderson Jr. score first TD (+650) — BetMGM
Cam Akers score first TD (+1200) — FanDuel
Cam Akers score last TD (+1200) — FanDuel
Allen Robinson score first TD (+800) — FanDuel
Allen Robinson over 4.5 receptions (+126) — FanDuel
Allen Robinson over 49.5 receiving yards (-110) — FanDuel

49ers vs. Seahawks Week 2 prop bets

I haven’t been on the Rashaad Penny bandwagon for a few years. Late last season I was completely wrong, as he rattled off great game after great game. But each season has its own DNA, and based on offensive prowess and negative game scripts, I once again pushed against overvaluing Penny.

That perception of reality, combined with what should be a big bounce-back game for the San Francisco 49ers after a somewhat shocking loss to Chicago, should help generate favorable offensive production for Trey Lance and Co. while forcing Geno Smith to throw more than Seattle likely wants him to.

Trey Lance over 188.5 passing yards (-110) — FanDuel
Rashaad Penny under 12.5 rushing attempts (-125) — FanDuel
Rashaad Penny under 50.5 rushing yards (-115) — FanDuel
Rashaad Penny under 7.5 receiving yards (-115) — FanDuel
Jeff Wilson Jr. score first TD (+800) — BetMGM
Jeff Wilson Jr. over 8.5 receiving yards (-115) — FanDuel
Deebo Samuel over 47.5 receiving yards (-115) — BetMGM

Cowboys vs. Bengals Week 2 prop bets

So much unpredictability, especially on the Dallas Cowboys’ side. Can Cooper Rush help propel this offense to mediocrity or better? Will Ezekiel Elliott return to 2019 form? We can envision the Cowboys operating conservatively, trying to move the chains using all three downs and keeping the clock running. That should favor short passes and quick strikes on the ground and through the air for Elliott and Tony Pollard.

And we have to wonder if Joe Burrow can snap back after a surprisingly sub-par performance against the Steelers (although Tee Higgins’ early exit didn’t help). Higgins is the X-factor in this contest, as I believe Joe Mixon once again will fall short of expectations (based in part by over-usage last season that’s carrying over into this one). A healthy Higgins will be targeted more than expected.

Tee Higgins over 4.5 receptions (+108) — FanDuel
Tee Higgins over 59.5 receiving yards (+108) — BetMGM
Ezekiel Elliott over 12.5 receiving yards (-110) — BetMGM
Dalton Schultz score the last TD (+1600) — BetMGM
Dalton Schultz over 40.5 receiving yards (-110) — FanDuel
