Tom Brady might not stay retired, landing spot emerging

Tom Brady’s second retirement might not stick with a report suggesting the former Patriots and Buccaneers quarterback could be looking at the Dolphins.

Aaron Rodgers recently talked about how he doesn’t want to follow in Brett Favre’s footsteps, retiring and then changing his mind about it later.

Tom Brady has already been there done that. Now there’s talk he could go full Favre and do it again.

According to Rich Eisen, the talk around the NFL Combine in Indianapolis was that Brady could be looking at another unretirement with an eye on playing for the Dolphins.

Tom Brady could unretire to play for the Dolphins

Brady has been linked to the Dolphins for a while now. They were an option for him as he was leaving the Patriots before he decided to sign with the Buccaneers. So it’s no surprise they’re the team attached to this rumor even with Tua Tagovailoa returning as the presumptive starter in 2023.

Miami’s commitment to Tagovailoa as their long-term quarterback remains in question. This rumor will only add to the perception that they’re looking at other options. Signing Brady could signal the end of Tagovailoa in Miami with his fifth-year option coming up next year.

The gamble is whether Brady has anything left to give a team with Super Bowl aspirations. In 2022, he threw for 4,694 yards but had just 25 touchdowns with nine interceptions. The Bucs went 8-9 and were trounced by the Cowboys in the playoffs.

Brady officially retired for the second time earlier this year and at the time it seemed like this one would stick. He still has a broadcast gig lined up with FOX but that deal doesn’t begin until 2024. In the meantime, there have been reports of an unexpected career shift for the former quarterback.

The unretiring rumors aren’t going away though. Where there’s smoke, there may be fire.
