New York Jets (0-1) at Cleveland Browns (1-0)

  • Channel: CBS
  • Start time: 1 p.m. ET
  • Live stream: CBS All-Access, Hulu + Live TV, Youtube TV

Our first matchup sees the New York Jets heading to FirstEnergy Stadium to take on the Cleveland Browns. Back-to-back weeks facing the AFC North can be brutal at any time of year, but to start the season that way is even worse. The Jets head into this matchup after a rough Week 1 24-9 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Starting against the team he took to the Super Bowl, Joe Flacco struggled behind the Jets’ patchwork offensive line while being forced to throw the ball 59 times. The Ravens’ front seven is fierce, and the going gets even tougher with Browns DE Myles Garrett headed Flacco’s way in Week 2. Expect the Browns to get carried by the defense and rushing attack while QB Jacoby Brissett continues to carve out an offensive groove.

Washington Commanders (1-0) at Detroit Lions (0-1)

  • Channel: FOX
  • Start time: 1 p.m. ET
  • Live stream: Hulu + Live TV, Youtube TV, FOX Now

The Washington Commanders got through Week 1 by the skin of their teeth and cashed in the first win of the Commanders era over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions couldn’t do Washington a standings-related favor, as Detriot came up just short against the former’s division rival in the Philadelphia Eagles. The Commanders’ struggle against the Jaguars should be good news for Detroit.

Detroit ground out their Week 1 matchup and, just like last season, came up a few plays short. However, Philadelphia didn’t give the Lions many chances to come back, as the Eagles didn’t turn the ball over and scored on over half of the team’s offensive drives.

Washington, meanwhile, struggled with turnovers in its matchup. Carson Wentz threw two interceptions, and Curtis Samuel coughed up the ball after taking a big hit. Washington can’t afford to give the Lions extra possessions, as Dan Campbell and company will cash in on them.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0) at New Orleans Saints (1-0)

  • Channel: FOX
  • Start time: 1 p.m. ET
  • Live stream: Hulu + Live TV, Youtube TV, FOX Now

This matchup features the first Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints showdown without Sean Payton coaching New Orleans since his year-long suspension in 2012. Both teams were victorious in Week 1 but faced very different challenges.

The Bucs dominated the Cowboys all night in Week 1. Though, to be fair Dallas lost QB Dak Prescott early in the game. Meanwhile, the Saints lost the lead against the Falcons early in the second quarter and would not get it back until just 19 seconds were remaining in the game.

There are issues to iron out on the offensive side of the ball in New Orleans, so the pivotal question of this contest is simple: will the New Orleans defense take advantage of a suspect Tampa Bay offensive line and banged-up wide receiver group to give QB Jameis Winston a fighting chance?

Carolina Panthers (0-1) at New York Giants (1-0)

  • Channel: CBS
  • Start time: 1 p.m. ET
  • Live stream: CBS All-Access, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV

One of the big surprises of Week 1 was the New York Giants win over the Tennessee Titans. Brian Daboll’s gutsy decision to go for the win instead of the tie at the end of the game sent waves of jubilation through New York. Unfortunately, the Giants will need a much better game from Daniel Jones if New York wants its first 2-0 start since 2016.

For Carolina, Baker Mayfield hopes to earn his first victory as a Panther in Week 2 after losing his revenge game against the Browns. He made it to the end zone twice but threw an interception and put the ball on the ground four times.

If the Panthers want to secure the team’s first win of the season, they’ll need to get the running game going. New York shut down Derrick Henry in Week 1, while the Panthers rushed for just 54 yards in their opening contest. Making Mayfield do the heavy lifting could be the road to victory for the Giants.

New England Patriots (0-1) at Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0)

  • Channel: CBS
  • Start time: 1 p.m. ET
  • Live stream: CBS All-Access, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV

Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots would love to start the season over again. For 60 minutes, they were outplayed by the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium yet again, this time in a 20-7 loss. The offense surrendered three turnovers and only made it to the red zone once.

This week the Pats take on the Pittsburgh Steelers, a team that had quite the rollercoaster of a Week 1 victory. After taking a commanding 17-6 first-half lead over the Cincinnati Bengals, Pittsburgh yielded 14 second-half points while scoring just three of their own, allowing the game to go to overtime.

The Steelers offense struggled to maintain consistency in Week 1 but could lean on the defense to set them up in favorable spots this week. The big question: how much will the loss of superstar edge rusher T.J. Watt affect Pittsburgh’s defensive performance and, in turn, the offense’s chances?

Indianapolis Colts (0-0-1) at Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1)

  • Channel: CBS
  • Start time: 1 p.m. ET
  • Live stream: CBS All-Access, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV

NFL fans were slightly stunned last week, as they watched the Houston Texans, a team many thought was outmatched, tie the Indianapolis Colts after 70 minutes of football. This matchup provides Indy with a good chance to bounce back against another divisional opponent.

This game has an added intriguing subplot, as the Colts lost in Jacksonville in Week 18 of last season, ending Indianapolis’ playoff hopes when the team was facing a win-and-in scenario. The offense wasn’t awful in Week 1, but the Colts must finish more drives to cash in on scoring opportunities. While Jacksonville has improved from last season, there’s still a sizeable gap in roster talent between these two teams. Barring the Colts playing down to their competition, Indianapolis should enter the win column this week.

Miami Dolphins (1-0) at Baltimore Ravens (1-0)

  • Channel: CBS
  • Start time: 1 p.m. ET
  • Live stream: CBS All-Access, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV

The final 1 p.m. game on the Week 2 schedule sees an alluring rematch from the 2021 season. The Miami Dolphins head to M&T Bank Stadium to take on the Baltimore Ravens.

Both teams won comfortably in Week 1, starting the 2022 season on a positive note. However, the Dolphins will be down at least one offensive lineman. Miami placed OT Austin Jackson on IR with a right ankle injury. Offseason addition Terron Armstead is hampered with a toe injury and is questionable for today’s game.

If Miami is down both tackles, it will be a long day for QB Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins offense. Baltimore will hope to find some offensive cohesion against Miami this time around, something the Ravens struggled mightily to do in 2021.

Atlanta Falcons (0-1) at Los Angeles Rams (0-1)

  • Channel: FOX
  • Start time: 4:05 p.m. ET
  • Live stream: Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, FOX Now

The first late-afternoon matchup of the week sees the Atlanta Falcons heading out to SoFi Stadium to take on the Los Angeles Rams. After holding the lead for most of the day, the Falcons fell just short to the Saints in Week 1. However, Atlanta’s loss wasn’t as surprising as Los Angeles’. The Rams failed to show up in Week 1, but the team’s challenge won’t be as demanding in Week 2.

The Buffalo Bills seem to be a consensus Super Bowl pick. Buffalo’s defense is elite, and the offense is one of the most potent in the league. The Falcons? Not even close. The Rams have a fearsome defense that should have no problem shutting down a lackluster Falcons attack. Rams QB Matthew Stafford should have a much easier time this week against an Atlanta defense that struggled to slow down Jameis Winston.

Seattle Seahawks (1-0) at San Francisco 49ers (0-1)

  • Channel: FOX
  • Start time: 4:05 p.m. ET
  • Live stream: Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, FOX Now

The Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers did the exact opposite of what many expected from them in Week 1. The 49ers dropped their season opener to the Chicago Bears in what many thought would be a walk-in-the-park matchup. Meanwhile, the Seahawks surprised the league, as Geno Smith tossed two touchdowns in the team’s 17-16 win over the Denver Broncos.

San Francisco’s defense beat themselves in Week 1, something we shouldn’t see two weeks in a row. The Seahawks are starting two rookie tackles, and the 49ers’ front seven should have a field day against Smith and the Seahawks offense.

Cincinnati Bengals (0-1) at Dallas Cowboys (0-1)

  • Channel: CBS
  • Start time: 4:25 p.m. ET
  • Live stream: CBS All-Access, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV

Both the Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys head into Week 2 after suffering a loss in the opening week. However, one was more damaging than the other. Despite a rough start to the day, Bengals QB Joe Burrow bounced back to force overtime against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Cowboys, on the other hand, are stuck searching for answers to a litany of questions.

QB Dak Prescott has a fractured right thumb, and while the Cowboys have yet to place Prescott on IR, the injury completely changes the trajectory of Dallas’ season. Between fielding a hampered offensive line and relying on a backup QB, the Cowboys likely won’t have enough firepower to keep up with the Bengals.

Houston Texans (0-0-1) at Denver Broncos (0-1)

  • Channel: CBS
  • Start time: 4:25 p.m. ET
  • Live stream: CBS All-Access, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV

The Week 1 results for both the Houston Texans and Denver Broncos were surprising, but for different reasons. The Broncos signed QB Russell Wilson to a 5-year, $245 million extension, then kicked a 64-yard field goal instead of asking the new franchise QB to attempt a fourth-and-five conversion. Questionable decisions and a few dropped passes ruined Wilson’s Denver debut.

On the flip side, Houston surprised everyone when the Texans tied the Colts last week. However, it’s risky to expect back-to-back performances like that from Houston. The Broncos should bounce back in their home opener. While he only reached the end zone once last week, Wilson should have a much easier time against the Houston defense. A loss, however, should set off all the alarms in the Broncos facility.

Arizona Cardinals (0-1) at Las Vegas Raiders (0-1)

  • Channel: CBS
  • Start time: 4:25 p.m. ET
  • Live stream: CBS All-Access, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV

The final late-afternoon game on the Week 2 Sunday slate sees the Arizona Cardinals taking on the Las Vegas Raiders in Allegiant Stadium. Another team looking to bounce back after a Week 1 loss, the Raiders came very close to spoiling the Chargers’ day in Week 1. The Cardinals, on the other hand, were blown out and severely outplayed by the Kansas City Chiefs.

While it is hard to label a game this early in the season as a “must-win,” the AFC West is stacked with talent, and an 0-2 hole would be devastating for the Raiders. QB Derek Carr struggled in his first game but should bounce back with a copious amount of talented playmakers surrounding him. The Cardinals’ secondary struggled mightily against Patrick Mahomes. Arizona is unlikely to bottle up all three of Davante Adams, Darren Waller, and Hunter Renfrow.

Chicago Bears (1-0) at Green Bay Packers (0-1)

  • Channel: NBC
  • Start time: 8:20 p.m. ET
  • Live stream: NBC Sports, Peacock TV

The final contest on Sunday’s schedule features one more divisional showdown: an NFC North skirmish between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers. What a jaw-dropping surprise from Green Bay in Week 1. Aaron Rodgers completed 22 passes for 195 yards, was sacked four times, threw an interception, and lost a fumble. It would be astonishing to see the Packers put up another performance like last week.

Meanwhile, the Bears surprised everyone with a Week 1 victory over the 49ers. Despite playing through pouring rain, Justin Fields threw two touchdowns and showed some growth within the offense. The Bears should be thoroughly outmatched tonight, but if the Packers offense has another no-show, who knows who wins this divisional showdown?
