The Chicago Bears made a mockery out of all their critics on Thursday Night Football, walloping the favored Washington Commanders 40-20 for their first win of 2023.
But no critic was roasted as badly as ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith.

Not one to shy away from bold predictions, the verbose Smith made this eye-grabbing, trend-worthy prediction involving the then 0-4 Bears.
His prediction? This Bears team is worse than the 0-16 Detroit Lions of 2008.
“This team is an atrocity,” Smith said on his show First Take. “When you look at this team right now from an organizational perspective, they don’t seem to know what the hell they’re doing.”

That was on the morning before the 20-point rout. Well, the fans roasted SAS after the game.
“They took this personally,” one fan joked to Smith on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Another fan gave the longtime sports personality a new name.
“Stephen Atrocity Smith…add this to the list ESPN,” he said on X.

One more fan criticized how he believes Smith acts like he’s knowledgeable about football the same way he was for his main sport, basketball.

“Stephen A is always putting his foot in his mouth. I hate how he talks football as if he knows the game the same way he knows basketball. That’s why his A lists are always trash too,” the fan shared.
Bears HC Matt Eberflus Sounds Off After Win
Meanwhile, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus has heard the ridicule and criticism from the outside world for their 0-4 start. Some fans believed the second-year head coach should have been fired after the Denver Broncos loss.
Now, Eberflus earned his fourth career head coaching win and, in the process, ended a 347-day drought involving their last victory on the field.
Eberflus shared a passionate speech after the emotional win. Not only did he go through a checklist of what he hoped to see from the Bears, but addressed the adversity the team faced.
“The reason you’re able to do us fellas is to go through all this hard adversity is because of the relationships we built,” Eberflus said. “We’re tight. And we’ve always been tight and we’re going to remain tight.”
