Myles Garrett makes first public appearance since car crash

Myles Garrett spoke with the Cleveland Browns media on Friday after his car accident.

While Myles Garrett seems to be in good spirts, it remains to be seen if the Cleveland Browns star pass-rusher will play on Sunday vs. the Atlanta Falcons.

Garrett was involved in a single-car crash on Monday. Although he had to go to the hospital, his injuries were deemed minor and he was released shortly thereafter. Cleveland is 2-1 on the year, fresh off a convincing division win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. They will take on a feisty Falcons team that has played hard all three weeks, and just got its first win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Garrett is grateful to be alive after his crash, referring to the incident as “definitely a wakeup call.”

He is listed as questionable for Week 4’s road game vs. the 1-2 Falcons. Will he play on Sunday?

Myles Garrett car crash: Browns star DE speaks for first time since car accident

It is still very early in the season, but the Browns are more than holding their own with Deshaun Watson serving the first few games of his lengthy suspension. Nobody is running away with the AFC North presently, so that bodes well for the Browns moving forward. Of course, coming out of the first four weeks of the season with losses to the New York Jets and the Falcons is not ideal…

If Garrett is able to go, he can be a difference-maker for Cleveland. Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota is turnover prone. Should he be the reason the Dirty Birds fall to 1-3 in a very winnable home game vs. Jacoby Brissett and the Browns, it might be time to see what rookie quarterback Desmond Ridder can do for them going forward. Regardless, Garrett must take it easy in Week 4.

Even if Garrett can’t play, Cleveland has the roster to beat a rebuilding Falcons team in Atlanta. Of course, the Dirty Birds play hard for Arthur Smith and have an opportunistic defense. The turnover battle will be most crucial in this game. While putting Garrett out there might be a tad risky, his sheer talent is enough to tip the scales in Cleveland’s favor. One pressure can be all the difference.

Garrett has three sacks and a forced fumble on the year so far.

No matter if he plays Sunday or not, it is fantastic to see Garrett is back at the Browns’ facility.
