Wide receiver Mecole Hardman clapped back at ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter over his comments after signing with the New York Jets.
The New York Jets are making moves this offseason to propel them to the playoffs in 2023 for the first time since the 2011 season. Hindered by quarterback play, they are on the verge of getting Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (pending a trade). Not just that, but they have made some moves at the wide receiver position.
One of the moves the Jets made was on Wednesday, when they reportedly agreed to terms with former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman on a one-year contract, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Shortly after the tweet was sent out, Fowler’s colleague and senior NFL insider Adam Schefter responded with “the Jets now add a player to run jet sweeps, and more.”
Hardman caught this, and responded to Schefter, saying “way ‘MORE’ than jet sweeps.”

Hardman let Schefter know that he does a lot more than jet sweeps.
The Chiefs selected Hardman in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Georgia, where he showed off his speed for three seasons. He showed that off at the NFL Scouting Combine in 2019, recording a 4.33-second 40-yard dash time.
This past season, Hardman was limited to just eight regular season games, where he was placed on injured reserve in November due to a pelvic injury. He did return for the AFC Championship Game, but left early, and didn’t play in Super Bowl 57.
In those eight regular season games, Hardman recorded 25 receptions for 297 yards and four touchdowns on 34 targets. In his four-year career, Hardman caught 151-of-220 targets for 2,088 yards and 16 touchdowns. Hardman recorded over 500 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons.
Hardman is the latest addition to the Jets wide receiver room, as they also signed Allen Lazard, formerly of the Packers. Shortly after the Hardman signing on Wednesday, the Jets traded Elijah Moore to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a 2023 second-round pick.
The Jets’ wide receiver room is now lead by Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson, Lazard, and Hardman. Now, the fanbase waits to see when the team and the Packers can agree to terms on a trade for Rodgers.
