Daniel Jones signed a monster $160 million deal with the Giants on Tuesday but Bears safety Jaquan Brisker promptly roasted him to oblivion over it.
Right at the buzzer of the franchise tag deadline, the New York Giants showed their hand. The G-Men placed the tag on running back Saquon Barkley while they handed quarterback Daniel Jones a monster four-year deal that’s worth $160 million.
While that was happening, though, the Baltimore Ravens were unable to come to a deal with their signal-caller, a much more accomplished former MVP, Lamar Jackson. Subsequently, the team placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Jackson. And that didn’t sit right with at least one player in the NFL: Chicago Bears safety Jaquan Brisker.
The Bears’ second-round pick reacted to a Twitter user who couldn’t believe Jackson was being “treated like he’s unproven”. And he didn’t hold back with his words, completing roasting Daniel Jones in the process.
“MVP lol… other Bruh got paid today and is trash fam #FACTS”, Brisker wrote on Twitter.

Danny Dimes might be Dan Nickels after that burn.
For what it’s worth, Brisker does have a leg up on Jones in a department other than trash talk. The Bears rookie sacked the Giants quarterback during their Week 4 clash this past season. Jones also threw an interception in that game, a contest that he left early with an ankle injury. However, it was New York that came out with the win.
Once you get past Brisker’s roast session, though, it is a wild juxtaposition to look at a quarterback like Jackson that has an MVP trophy at home along with numerous playoff berths while Jones has essentially just one good season with the Giants to his credit. And yet it was Jones who got paid instead of getting tagged.
Unfortunately for us fans, though, Jones won’t have the opportunity to make Brisker eat his words — or, contrarily, Brisker won’t have the chance to prove his point — as the Bears and Giants don’t play in the 2023 season.
