With each passing week in the NFL season, the hot seat only increases in temperature. Here are three head coaches whose seats got hotter after Week 5.

The 2022 NFL season entered its fifth week, which means fans and media get a clearer picture if teams are headed toward playoff contention or if they are heading toward last place and towards the top of the NFL Draft order. However the season goes, the head coach is going to be the face of the franchise’s season.

There were some wins, both huge and ugly, in addition to some rough losses. But which head coaches have seen the temperature and pressure increase?

Here are three NFL head coaches who are on the hot seat after Week 5.

Brandon Staley

HC Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers may have won, but head coach Brandon Staley did everything in his power to hand a gift-wrapped victory to the Cleveland Browns.

Los Angeles had a 30-28 lead late in the fourth quarter, and had a little over a minute remaining in regulation while facing a fourth-and-one situation. Instead of punting the ball away, Staley decided to go for it. That decision monumentally failed, as quarterback Justin Herbert threw an incomplete pass intended for wide receiver Mike Williams.

The decision by Staley was so bad, that wide receiver Keenan Allen took to Twitter to voice his displeasure.

After the failed fourth down conversion, the Browns were in perfect position to kick the game-winning field goal. Staley got very lucky, as Cade York’s 54-yard attempt flew wide right.

Yes, the Chargers did win, but did they ever try their best to lose it. If the Chargers do not improve this season, then it would not be shocking if they made a head coaching change.
