Miami Dolphins CB Carted Off Practice Field

Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey had to be carted off the field during Thursday’s training camp practice session after suffering what appeared to be a left knee injury. Ramsey was injured during an 11-on-11 rep and was subsequently evaluated by Miami’s medical staff before a cart took him to the locker room.

Ramsey was covering wide receiver Tyreek Hill on the play in which the injury occurred. Head coach Mike McDaniel, cornerback Xavier Howard, and safety Jevon Holland all came to Ramsey’s aid once he went down.

“You know, everybody’s worried about him,” Holland said after practice. “I’m not really sure what’s wrong.”

Ramsey represents the Dolphins’ most significant addition of the offseason. Miami sent a third-round pick to the Los Angeles Rams to acquire the 28-year-old in March while assuming the three years and $55 million remaining on his contract.

The Dolphins parted ways with cornerback Byron Jones earlier this year after three underwhelming seasons, including a 2022 campaign that was entirely destroyed by injury. Ramsey is expected to team with Howard and Kader Kohou to form one of the best cornerback trios in the NFL.

Miami has some cornerback depth in the form of second-round pick Cam Smith, Keion Crossen, and Nik Needham. But Needham is currently on the physically unable to perform list, and the Dolphins would struggle to replace Ramsey with any of their backup options.

Ramsey ranked as the league’s second-best corner in PFN’s most recent positional rankings. He’s earned three first-team All-Pro berths while being selected to the Pro Bowl six times.
