Super Bowl 57 features two star-studded teams in the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. Legacies will continue to be defined throughout the big game. There’s not an individual with more to gain than Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Arguably the most talented quarterback to ever play football, Mahomes has established his dominance quickly since joining the Chiefs.
Let’s take a look at Mahomes’ accomplishments thus far, including his playoff performances and how many Super Bowls he’s won. The 27-year-old will only continue to bolster his résumé in coming years as the Chiefs are establishing a dynasty as a Super Bowl contender.
How Many Super Bowls Has Patrick Mahomes Been to and Won?
Mahomes has been to two Super Bowls, winning one. His first Super Bowl appearance came in his third year (but only second season as the starter). In his 2019 season, Mahomes led the Chiefs to a 31-20 victory against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 54.
En route to Super Bowl 54, Mahomes led a massive comeback from 24 points down in the second quarter to the Houston Texans — the Chiefs prevailed 51-31. They advanced to the Super Bowl by comfortably defeating the Titans 35-24 before facing the 49ers.
Mahomes won Super Bowl MVP by completing 26-of-42 for 286 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. He added nine rushes for 29 yards and one touchdown.
His 2019 campaign had some statistical downturn from his magical debut season as a starter, but the team was overall more effective.

The Chiefs finished 12-4 with the league’s fifth-highest-scoring offense. Mahomes threw for 4,031 yards and 26 touchdowns while completing almost 66% of his passes. He also missed two games.
He led the Chiefs to a return trip to the Super Bowl in 2020 after the team finished with the AFC’s No. 1 overall seed and a 14-2 record. The Chiefs were defeated in a 31-9 blowout by Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Despite their high-powered offense, the Chiefs’ offense was overwhelmed by the Buccaneers’ powerful pass rush throughout the contest.
Mahomes was unable to produce his usual greatness against the Buccaneers, completing only 26 passes on 49 attempts for 270 yards and two interceptions.
Super Bowl 57 against the Eagles will be Mahomes’ third trip to the Super Bowl thus far in his career. Beating the Eagles despite being an underdog would further the argument that Mahomes is already among the all-time greats to play quarterback. Thus far in the 2022-23 NFL playoffs, Mahomes has completed 69.9% of passes for 521 yards and four touchdowns.
