The Kansas City Chiefs may have secured their first win of the season against the New York Giants, but the performance left much to be desired. Now, they face a pivotal Week 4 matchup against a Baltimore Ravens team that is also struggling with a 1-2 record.
With both teams desperate to prove themselves, one prominent analyst believes the Chiefs are still one critical move away from reclaiming their dominance.
Should the Kansas City Chiefs Reunite with Tyreek Hill?
That one move could involve a familiar face. Despite his $90 million contract, Tyreek Hill’s situation in Miami seems tenuous. The Miami Dolphins are a mess, and Hill is reportedly not getting the ball enough, which is likely contributing to the team’s issues.
As a result, head coach Mike McDaniel may have no choice but to trade his star receiver, a player who previously requested a trade and would reportedly love nothing more than to go back to Kansas City.
On that note, Stephen A. Smith is urging the Chiefs to make a bold move. “If I were the Kansas City Chiefs, I do everything I could to get Tyreek Hill back,” Smith said. “I’m not saying that I would give up Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice, but would I give up one of them to get Tyreek Hill? Yes I would. The cheetah is the cheetah. The brother is still electrifying.”
Smith also addressed the complexities surrounding the star player. “Tyreek Hill needs to be with a quarterback with an arm that can fling that bad boy. I know that he has issues and accusations of domestic violence and all of this other stuff. The only reason I take this position is because he’s still playing in the NFL. He’s not on the commissioner’s list. He hasn’t been taken off the football field,” Smith added.
Ultimately, Smith believes the potential reward outweighs the risks. He continued, “If I can get Tyreek Hill back with Travis Kelce, with Patrick Mahomes, with Andy Reid calling plays, I believe the Kansas City Chiefs should do it. I believe they’d be right back in position to recapture another Super Bowl Championship.”
However, one of the main obstacles in acquiring Hill is his significant contract. Hill, who originally signed a four-year, $120 million extension, later restructured his contract to a three-year, $90 million deal. The Chiefs are nowhere near the NFL-leading Tennessee Titans when it comes to cap space, but Smith is a firm believer that this is a trade worth making. As it stands, Hill is set to earn a base salary of $29.9 million in 2026, according to Spotrac.
