Agassi and Graf first crossed paths in 1992, the same year both captured singles titles at Wimbledon. Agassi later confessed in his autobiography Open that he was instantly drawn to Graf’s grace and poise during a French TV interview. Although a formal dance at the Wimbledon Ball never took place, their first photograph together marked the beginning of a connection.

After a practice session organized by their coaches during the French Open and Wimbledon seasons, Graf found herself intrigued by Agassi’s persistence. At the time, Agassi was in the process of separating from actress Brooke Shields, while Graf was also in a relationship.
