How Many Draft Picks Do the Browns Have in 2023?

The Browns have eight total selections in the 2023 NFL Draft. Only two of those picks — a second and third-rounder — are within the early rounds. The rest reside in the Day 3 range. Across that area, Cleveland has two Round 4 picks, two Round 5 picks, and one pick each in Rounds 6 and 7.

The most notable development on the 2023 NFL Draft front for the Browns is their lack of a first-round pick. Cleveland traded that pick — which is scheduled to be a top-12 selection — to the Houston Texans in exchange for quarterback Deshaun Watson in the 2022 offseason.

The loss of that first-round pick hurts, especially for a Browns team that appeared uneven for most of 2022, even after Watson hit the field. But Cleveland will have enough capital to take advantage of what should be a very deep 2023 NFL Draft class.

The Browns still have their original second-round pick, which will be a top-50 selection, and they’ll also have one third-round selection. They traded one third-rounder to the Texans in the Watson deal but earned another back as compensation for the Vikings’ hiring of former Browns executive Kwesi Adofo-Mensah as general manager.

Cleveland’s extra picks in Rounds 4 and 5 were both added in April 2022. A trade down with Minnesota netted Cleveland their extra fourth-rounder, while a deal to send Troy Hill back to the Los Angeles Rams gave the Browns their second fifth-round pick. Past that point, Cleveland still has their original picks in the sixth and seventh rounds.
