Now that the regular season is over, the hiring circuit for NFL head coaches and general managers is underway. Over the next several weeks, teams will conduct numerous interviews to find the next leaders of their organization.

Head Coach Candidate Briefs
Jim Caldwell, Former Lions and Colts HC
CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson reports that Jim Caldwell interviewed with the team on Monday, January 9. Caldwell last coached for the Lions from 2014-2017, leading them to a 36-28 record. With the Colts, he led them to a 26-22 record in three years. In his first season, he led them to Super Bowl XLIV but lost to the Saints.
Ken Dorsey, Bills OC

Ken Dorsey joined the Buffalo Bills in 2019 after being announced as the team’s quarterbacks coach. Under Dorsey’s tutelage, QB Josh Allen has blossomed into one of the top signal callers in the NFL. In 2020, Allen was named a second team All-Pro, Pro Bowl selection and finished second in the MVP voting. Following the 2020 season, Dorsey was promoted to passing game coordinator/quarterbacks coach. Dorsey then earned a promotion to the team’s offensive coordinator prior to the 2022 season
Ejiro Evero, Broncos DC
In a league where passing is king, Evero’s ability to design a defense that succeeds at stopping aerial attacks is especially notable. Jonathan Gannon, Eagles DC

Jonathan Gannon is in his second year as Eagles defensive coordinator. In his first season with the team, Gannon directed the 10th-ranked defense (328.8 ypg) in the NFL. The Eagles, who posted the second-most defensive touchdowns (five) and allowed the fifth-fewest explosive plays (117) in the league, also finished ninth in opponent rushing yards per game (107.9) and opponent three-and-out percentage (33.1 pct.). Aaron Glenn, Lions DC
The 2022 season will serve as the second season Aaron Glenn leads the Lions’ defense. Glenn has more than 25 years of experience in the National Football League, including playing, front office, and coaching experience. Prior to Detroit, Glenn was on staff with Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell in New Orleans for five seasons (2016-20), where Glenn was responsible for overseeing the secondary unit.
Jim Harbaugh, Michigan Head Coach
Harbaugh has been a hot name on the NFL hiring circuit for the past several years, but he never expressed serious interest. While he did interview with the Vikings in the 2022 offseason, he returned to Michigan and led them to a spot in the College Football Playoff.
It’s been rumored that Harbaugh hasn’t been happy with the way the college football landscape is shifting, especially with the increase in NIL deals and the transfer portal. When asked about the reports of NFL interest, Harbaugh said, “As I stated in December, while no one knows what the future holds, I expect that I will be enthusiastically coaching Michigan in 2023.”
Ben Johnson, Lions OC
Ben Johnson was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2022 after spending three seasons with the Lions in multiple roles on the coaching staff. He came to Detroit in 2019, as an offensive quality control coach, and was heavily involved in the passing game during Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell’s first season in Detroit.
Vance Joseph, Cardinals DC
Vance Joseph, the former head coach of the Broncos, has 15 years of NFL coaching experience on the defensive side of the ball. He was hired by the Cardinals in 2019 after being fired by the Broncos.
Mike Kafka, Giants OC

Mike Kafka is in his first season as the Giants’ offensive coordinator and sixth as an NFL coach. Kafka, 35, spent the previous five seasons as an assistant coach on Andy Reid’s staff with the Kansas City Chiefs, the last two as the team’s quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator. During Kafka’s tenure in Kansas City, the Chiefs were one of the NFL’s most successful teams and deployed one of the league’s most prolific offenses. Raheem Morris, Rams DC
Raheem Morris became one of the NFL’s youngest coaches of all time when he took over the Buccaneers at 32 years old. He coached on the offensive side of the ball as the Falcons’ passing game coordinator from 2015-19 and spent five seasons at the collegiate level. Sean Payton, Former Saints Head Coach
Since Sean Payton is under contract with the Saints, New Orleans controls his rights and, thus, will be a major player in the Payton sweepstakes. Any trade compensation for Payton is expected to begin with a first-round pick and more. A prerequisite for the Saints granting permissions to teams to interview Payton was that the other team would need to agree to the compensation first.
Payton went 152-89 as the Saints’ head coach. Aside from an ugly stretch from 2014-2016 where New Orleans could only manage seven wins in each campaign, the Saints were habitual double-digit winners. Frank Reich, Former Colts HC
FOX’s Jay Glazer reports that former Colts head coach Frank Reich will interview with the Panthers for their head coach position. Reich was fired after nearly four seasons with Indianapolis, compiling a 40-33-1 record. The inability to select the right quarterback after Andrew Luck abruptly retired was his downfall.
DeMeco Ryans, 49ers DC
The 49ers defensive coordinator was already identified as a coach on the rise last year and was invited to a second interview with the Vikings during their coaching search. Shane Steichen, Eagles OC

Shane Steichen is entering his second season as the Eagles offensive coordinator. In his first year with the Eagles, Steichen coordinated the league’s most productive rushing offense, as Philadelphia ranked first in the NFL with franchise records in rushing yards (2,715) and rushing touchdowns (25). The Eagles also led the league in explosive plays (163) and ranked fourth in third-down percentage (team-record 45.7 pct.) and fifth in giveaways (16). Dan Quinn, Cowboys DC
Dan Quinn was one of the hottest names in the offseason coaching cycle heading into the 2022 NFL season. The Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator took the team from 23rd in defensive DVOA to second in just one offseason.

General Manager Candidate Briefs
Malik Boyd, Bills Senior Director of Pro Personnel
Malik Boyd has been with the Bills as their senior director of pro personnel since 2017. Prior to joining the Bills, Boyd held numerous roles with the Colts and Cardinals, with an emphasis in the pro personnel and college scouting departments.
Ran Carthon, 49ers Director of Pro Personnel
Carthon is in his second season as the 49ers Director of Player Personnel. Previously, he served five seasons with the 49ers as the Director of Pro Personnel.
Glenn Cook, Browns Assistant GM
Cook is currently the Browns Assistant General Manager and the Vice President of Player Personnel. Cook joined the Browns in 2016 after four years with the Packers. He was hired by former Browns Sashi Brown, but has remained with the organization, even with a lot of turnover in the front office.
Ryan Cowden, Titans Interim GM and VP of Player Personnel
Ryan Cowden is in his 23rd NFL season and his seventh with the Titans. In 2018, he was promoted to Vice President of Player Personnel. He originally joined the franchise in 2016, as the Director of Player Personnel.
Cowden oversees all areas of the scouting department, both college and pro, including advance scouting, free agency preparation, and evaluation of players in the NFL and all other professional leagues. In addition, he assists with college scouting and preparation for the NFL Draft.
Ian Cunningham, Bears Assistant General Manager
Cunningham just finished his first season with the Bears as their assistant general manager. Previously, he spent five years with the Eagles as the director of college scouting, assistant director of player personnel, and the director of player personnel. In total, he has 14 years of NFL experience.
Quentin Harris, Cardinals VP of Player Personnel

Former Cardinals safety Quentin Harris begins his 15th season in Arizona’s scouting department and second as Vice President, Player Personnel after being promoted in February, 2021. Prior to his promotion, Harris spent two years (2019-20) as Director, Player Personnel after working as the team’s Director, Pro Scouting for six seasons (2013-18).
In his current role with the Cardinals, Harris works alongside GM Steve Keim, managing both the college and pro personnel departments. His duties include evaluating the top college prospects nationally as well as the organization and implementation of the draft process. Harris oversees the pro personnel department which includes player acquisition, evaluation and assisting with player contract negotiations.
Monti Ossenfort, Titans Director of Player Personnel
Ossenfort just finished his third season as the Titans’ Director of Player Personnel. Previously, Ossenfort spent 15 seasons with the Patriots in multiple roles. In all, he has 21 years of NFL experience.
Adam Peters, 49ers Assistant General Manager
Peters is in his 20th season in the NFL and second as the 49ers Assistant General Manager. Previously, Peters served for four seasons as the Vice President of Player Personnel.
Adrian Wilson, Cardinals VP of Pro Personnel

Former Cardinals All-Pro safety Adrian Wilson is in his eighth season with Arizona’s scouting department and second as Vice President, Pro Personnel after being promoted in February, 2021. Prior to his promotion, he worked for two years (2019-20) as the team’s Director, Pro Scouting.
In his current role, Wilson supervises the pro scouting staff and oversees all pro player evaluation, the advance scouting process, free agency and the daily monitoring of player transactional movement in all professional leagues. Wilson also assists with college scouting, including evaluations for all juniors and cross-checking top draft prospects.
