Top QB Streamers for Week 9
While not in the upper range of our fantasy football rankings, these quarterbacks could be intriguing streaming options in Week 9, as they likely outperform the expectations of many. Let’s begin with Justin Fields, who is set to face off against the Miami Dolphins.
Justin Fields, Chicago Bears
Are we watching the beginning of the next elite fantasy QB? Maybe that’s a bit much, but we need to give Justin Fields his due respect. Fields has finished as the QB8 or better in three straight weeks and could have four in a row if not for his QB13 outing in Week 5. Fields is getting it done on the ground as expected, rushing for over 40 yards in every game since Week 3. That is over a touchdown’s worth of production alone on the ground.

His passing stats likely don’t paint the full picture as he only has one 200+ yard game this year (Week 5), but when you look at the options around him on top of him only throwing 25 or more times just once (Week 6), Fields’ hands are tied behind his back by the scheme. But with eight or more rushing attempts in seven of eight games, the Konami Code is too good to pass up.
Miami is a difficult matchup, but Fields gets the Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons after the Dolphins. I’d happily stream Fields in Week 9 and view him as a potential low-end QB1 moving forward, even if he isn’t scoring three touchdowns every outing.
Taylor Heinicke, Washington Commanders
Maybe Washington’s salvation was staring them in the face the entire time. Taylor Heinicke had another solid outing against the Indianapolis Colts, completing 23 of 31 passes for 279 yards with two touchdowns with one interception. His 23 fantasy points placed him as the QB8 on the weekend, and he will continue to be the Commanders’ QB moving forward as Carson Wentz nurses a thumb injury.
There are plenty of options on this offense for Heinicke to target, including Curtis Samuel, Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, and even Antonio Gibson out of the backfield. With six teams on a bye, Heinicke has a decent matchup against the Minnesota Vikings and their 20th-ranked pass DVOA defense in Week 9.
If you are missing a QB from one of the six teams with the week off, Heinicke makes for a solid Week 9 QB streamer.
Marcus Mariota, Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons make no sense. Their archaic offense is somehow working, and when you’re winning, why change? That’s the Arthur Smith logic, but at least we saw some semblance of a passing attack on Sunday in what turned out to be a good game. Now, the Falcons somehow sit atop the NFC South.
Mariota had his best day as a passer against the Carolina Panthers, completing 20 of 28 attempts for 253 yards with three touchdowns and two picks. The performance yielded a season-high in both yards and attempts and tied his Week 7 outing in touchdowns. It’s weird how all of a sudden, things work when you actually target your best players. Who knew?

Sarcasm aside, Mariota has QB1 outings in three of his last four and in half of his games this year, plus he can add offensive weapon Cordarrelle Patterson back into the mix as soon as this week. With an upcoming schedule against the Chargers, Panthers, Bears, Commanders, and Steelers, Mariota has sneaky rest-of-season value you can get for cheap as your Week 9 QB streamer.
Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars
Making the trip to London, Trevor Lawrence struggled, but the Denver Broncos are as legit as it gets on defense, especially on the passing side of things. Lawrence completed 18 of 31 passes for 133 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions in Sunday’s 21-17 loss to the Broncos. He also added three rushes for 15 yards.
Lawrence averaged only 4.3 yards per attempt, which is poor, but this was only his second time this year with multiple interceptions, one of which came at the goal line. He has cooled off after starting the season with multiple passing TDs in three of his first four but has a get-right game ahead of him against a Raiders defense that has allowed the most fantasy points to the position.
In a week where there aren’t many options available, Lawrence has the chance to push for high-end QB2 status in Week 9.
