Top QB Streamers for Week 8
While not in the upper range of our fantasy football rankings, these quarterbacks could be intriguing streaming options in Week 8, as they likely outperform the expectations of many. Let’s begin with Daniel Jones, who is set to face off against the Seattle Seahawks.
Daniel Jones, New York Giants
Let’s give a round of applause to Daniel Jones for this weekend. I thought inflation was hurting the dollar, but Danny Dimes might be going up in value if he keeps this up.
Jones had his best fantasy outing of the season in Week 7, even though he only threw for 202 yards on 19 of 30 passing. He rushed 11 times for 107 yards with two total touchdowns to finish with 28.8 PPR points.
Although he sure isn’t Michael Vick, Jones is third amongst quarterbacks in rushing attempts (58), second in yards (343), and sits tied for third with three touchdowns. He gets a favorable matchup in Week 8 against a Seahawks’ defense that ranks bottom 20 in both points per game and passing DVOA. Jones is a high-end QB2 streaming option for fantasy in Week 8.
Davis Mills, Houston Texans
I’m not here to answer the question if Davis Mills is good or not. But what I am saying is Mills can do the job for your fantasy team if you are in a pinch. On Sunday against the Raiders, Mills had his first 300-yard game of the season, completing 28 of his 41 passes for 302 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.
Ideally, we would see the strong, armed quarterback that we saw towards the end of last year, that sat as the QB12 and averaged 251 yards from Weeks 13 through 18. But that just hasn’t been the case, as Lovie Smith is using Mills as more of a game manager.
However, I do like Mills this week against a weaker Titans secondary that is 26th in points allowed to the quarterback and sits 17th in passing DVOA. If you need a quarterback, keep Mills on the shortlist of the Week 8 QB streamers for fantasy.
Taylor Heinicke, Washington Commanders
At this point, it’s near impossible not to pull for Taylor Heinicke, even if it helps to line the pockets of their owner. Not only did Heinicke take over for Carson Wentz (finger – IR), but he led the Commanders to a win over the Green Bay Packers. Heinicke completed 20 of his 33 passing attempts for 200 yards and two touchdowns with one pick while making the most of his opportunity.

We’ve seen Heinicke perform in the past. He was 20th in PPR/game last season and even managed to crack the top 12 six times. With the Colts making the change to Sam Ehlinger, watch for the Commanders to have another good game this week. Indy has been somewhat difficult against quarterbacks this year, but the trends favor Heinicke as a Week 8 streaming option, especially if the Colts cannot sustain drives.
Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers
Based on a spreadsheet, yeah, the 49ers probably gave up too much for a running back. But none of that is going to matter if San Francisco goes on to win the whole thing. And you can bet your bottom dollar that Jimmy Garoppolo isn’t upset he has to line up next to Christian McCaffrey every single week.
Although they walked away with a loss in Week 7, it’s hard to put much blame on Garoppolo. His 303 yards were the first time he passed the 300-yard mark this year while completing 25 of 37 passing attempts for two touchdowns with one interception. Just as important for fantasy, it was his third-straight game with 17+ PPR points as a top-10 finisher.
The Los Angeles Rams have been tough against quarterbacks, sitting eighth in points allowed at 13.1 PPR. But this offense has too much firepower. Even if they try to take away Brandon Aiyuk or Deebo Samuel, there’s still George Kittle and McCaffrey running around. It’s an almost endless opportunity for cheap production.
If you’ve been streaming the position or have a quarterback on a bye in Week 8, Garoppolo is a high-end QB2 streaming option I would definitely consider.
