Chiefs’ Donovan Smith Goes Viral After Posting the Bills Turned Off Hot Water in K.C.’s Locker Room

The Kansas City Chiefs may have walked out of the brisk elements of western New York with a 27-24 playoff win over the Buffalo Bills.

But, according to one member of the visiting team, Donovan Smith, the stadium made its attempt to leave K.C. players without any kind of warmth, literally.

Smith spent his entire evening holding off pass rushers for Patrick Mahomes in temperatures that dipped to 25 degrees.

After celebrating the win, one of the first thoughts is taking a nice hot shower in the locker room. But Smith took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to claim that the Bills’ venue opted to not offer them hot water for showers.

“Damn caught an L and they shut our hot water off…smh its all good we got that Dub today #ChiefsKingdom’,” Smith posted on his personal X account.

Smith drew some reactions about his claim.

“Not an ounce of class,” one fan told the Bills on X.

Another Chiefs fan claimed that this was an act of being “big mad” about taking the home loss to K.C.

“They big mad we exposed them,” that fan stated to Smith.

There was one post from DraftKings Sportsbook, though, that drew a laughing emoji reaction from Smith.

“The Bills must’ve reached their boiling point,” the account posted to Smith’s mentions.

And Smith reacted with multiple laughing faces.

How Did Donovan Smith and Chiefs’ Offensive Line Fare?

As for the performance of the Chiefs’ front-line protection, here’s what they were able to accomplish against a defense featuring former All-Pro Von Miller, veteran pass rusher Leonard Floyd, valuable interior defensive lineman Ed Oliver, and Company:

• Kansas City picked up 21 total first downs.
• The Chiefs averaged 7.7 yards per play.
• K.C. tallied 146 rushing yards with Smith helping pave the way.
• That impressive total came at a clip of 6.1 yards per carry courtesy of Smith and company’s blocking.

But arguably the best part of Mahomes’ night is the fact that Smith and the towering behemoths on the line didn’t allow a single sack against a veteran-led pass rush.

Not even Miller, who won two Super Bowls in his career and had his past battles with Mahomes in the AFC West while on the Denver Broncos, got to Mahomes for the sack.

But again, Smith claimed he and the Chiefs didn’t have water steaming from their showers.

Meanwhile, the man he protected, Mahomes, found himself in a postgame situation where he needed to duck his head.

Mahomes trekked over to a young fan who was wearing his jersey — likely in an attempt to either take a picture or give that kid an autograph. However, Mahomes had to lower himself due to Bills fans attempting to pelt him with snowballs.

Cameron Wolfe of the NFL Network was near the end zone when it occurred and then caught a film of Mahomes trying to run for cover.

Overall, a cold night in Buffalo had the makings of becoming even colder with the apparent lack of hot water and the snowballs raining down on the field as Mahomes headed to the locker room.
