Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey has been no stranger to the history books this season.
Brandon Aubrey’s Historic Season
To name a few of the records he has broken this season, he became the first kicker in NFL history to make two field goals of 59 yards or longer in the same game in Week 14.

Plus, the rookie was also named the NFC’s Special Teams Player of the Week twice during the season.
Going into Week 18, Aubrey is 35 for 35 for field goal attempts this season. That is a single-season franchise record, as he surpassed Richie Cunningham and Greg Zuerlein, who had 34.
Aubrey is currently tied with Gary Anderson for the second-most makes without a miss in a season in NFL history.
But with two more field goals on Sunday, Aubrey can tie Mike Vanderjagt for the most made field goals without a miss in a single season at 37. This record was set in 2003.
He was selected for his first Pro Bowl this year to put the cherry on top of his historic rookie season.
The Lows Before the Highs for Aubrey
But it wasn’t all highs for Aubrey, who says there was a time when he felt like he wouldn’t get to this point in his kicking career.

“So early on going to combine events and workouts and not getting the opportunity,” said Aubrey, adding, “Being told, ‘You have the talent, but you don’t have the film, so we can’t give you that opportunity,’ Just felt like it was beating my head into the wall until the USFL came into existence and gave me that opportunity.”
He said the turning point for that mindset was when the Birmingham Stallions picked him up as their kicker.
Aubrey Gives Credit to His Support System
The kicker says although he didn’t verbalize his goal of playing at the highest level, that was always his goal.
“It’s everyone’s goal as a professional athlete to reach the highest level, and so when I started, maybe I didn’t verbalize it, but obviously, that’s the end goal in mind,” said Aubrey.
The 30-year-old said the first person he told about the selection was his wife, who he has credited for encouraging him to pursue the position he is in now with the Cowboys.
Aubrey also continues to credit the guys around him for his success this season, especially Bryan Anger and Trent Sieg.
Anger was also selected for the 2023 Pro Bowl alongside Aubrey.
The goal is for the team to be in Las Vegas preparing for the Super Bowl instead of Orlando for the Pro Bowl, but if they end up in Orlando, Aubrey says it’s another time the veteran punter can show him the ropes.
“It’s something that I’m excited to have him kind of guide me through another process in my professional career,” said Aubrey.
