Injuries are an unfortunate reality of NFL life, but everyone who follows the league — fantasy football players, sports bettors, and fans of teams — wants the latest health information. In that vein, we’re tracking every NFL injury ahead of Week 9.
Let’s review the injury report for every game on the NFL’s Week 9 schedule. Remember, you can always stay updated on the latest injury buzz around the league with PFN’s NFL and Fantasy News Tracker.
NFL Week 9 Injury Tracker
Tennessee Titans at Pittsburgh Steelers (TNF)
- Titans: QB Ryan Tannehill, OUT (ankle); WR DeAndre Hopkins, QUESTIONABLE (toe); OT Chris Hubbard, OUT (concussion); CB Roger McCreary, OUT (hamstring); S Mike Brown, OUT (ankle)
- Steelers: CB Levi Wallace, QUESTIONABLE (foot); S Minkah Fitzpatrick, OUT (groin)
Titans: Will Levis — who threw four touchdowns in his first NFL start on Sunday — will fill in for Tannehill again as the veteran QB misses his second game with a high ankle sprain.
Hopkins was limited on Monday and Tuesday before failing to practice on Wednesday. Midweek downgrades are never a good sign, so we’ll need to watch for more reporters on Hopkins before Thursday night.
Nicholas Petit-Frere replaced Hubbard at right tackle last week and will start against the Steelers. McCreary will be sidelined for a second consecutive game.
Steelers: QB Kenny Pickett had to leave Sunday’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars after suffering a rib injury, but he told the media he was planning to play on TNF. He won’t carry an injury designation for Week 9.
Fitzpatrick represents a significant loss. Keanu Neal and Damontae Kazee will try to replace one of the NFL’s best safeties. Wallace couldn’t play last week, so the Steelers deployed Patrick Peterson and Joey Porter Jr. on the boundary and Arthur Maulet in the slot.
Miami Dolphins at Kansas City Chiefs (Germany)
- Dolphins: RB Raheem Mostert (ankle); WR River Cracraft (shoulder); TE Durham Smythe (ankle); OT Terron Armstead (knee); G Robert Hunt (hamstring); C Connor Williams (groin); CB Jalen Ramsey (knee); CB Xavien Howard (groin); CB Nik Needham (Achilles); S Brandon Jones (concussion)
- Chiefs: RB Jerick McKinnon (groin); LB Willie Gay Jr. (lower back); P Tommy Townsend (hand)
Dolphins: Mostert didn’t practice last Wednesday, either, but still made it back in time for Miami’s Week 8 win over the New England Patriots. The veteran RB will likely return to practice on Thursday.
The Dolphins have received ample good news on the injury front. On Wednesday, head coach Mike McDaniel suggested that Williams and Howard could play on Sunday. Miami also activated Armstead’s practice window as he works his way back from injured reserve (IR).

Safety Jevon Holland is out of the league’s concussion protocol after missing Week 8, but Jones — Holland’s replacement in the secondary — is now in the protocol and didn’t travel to Germany.
Chiefs: McKinnon started off last week with a missed practice but participated later in the week and played on Sunday. Meanwhile, Andy Reid said Gay probably won’t require an IR stint, but the fact that a trip to injured reserve was considered isn’t a great sign for Gay’s Week 8 availability.
Minnesota Vikings at Atlanta Falcons
- Vikings: WR K.J. Osborn (chest); WR Brandon Powell (shoulder); DL Dean Lowry (groin); LB Brian Asamoah II (ankle); CB Akalyeb Evans (neck)
- Falcons: FB Keith Smith (concussion); WR Drake London (groin); LB Tae Davis (concussion); CB Mike Hughes (shoulder); S DeMarcco Hellams (hamstring)
Vikings: Lowry failed to practice on Wednesday, while the rest of Minnesota’s injured players were limited. Asamoah missed last week’s game, so even a limited practice is a step in the right direction.
Falcons: London left Sunday’s loss to the Titans with a groin injury and did not return, so it’s hardly surprising that he didn’t practice today. If he ends up sitting out Week 9, TEs Kyle Pitts and Jonnu Smith will see more opportunities from new Falcons starter Taylor Heinicke.
Seattle Seahawks at Baltimore Ravens
- Seahawks: WR Tyler Lockett (hamstring); G Phil Haynes (calf); G Anthony Bradford (ankle); EDGE Boye Mafe (shoulder); S Jerrick Reed (shoulder)
- Ravens: RB Gus Edwards (toe); WR Odell Beckham Jr. (shoulder); OT Ronnie Stanley (shoulder); OT Morgan Moses (shoulder); EDGE Odafe Oweh (ankle/knee); CB Rock Ya-Sin (illness); S Marcus Williams (hamstring)
Seahawks: Seattle is relatively healthy heading into Week 9. Lockett was the only injured player who failed to practice, but he’s been ready for games even after taking more time off during the week than usual in 2023.
Ravens: Edwards didn’t practice Wednesday but expects to play — and receive a heavy workload — against the Seahawks on Sunday. Beckham, Moses, Stanley, Oweh, and Ya-Sin also failed to practice today, but many of those veterans could return to practice on Thursday or Friday.
Williams has missed Baltimore’s last two games with a hamstring injury. Asked if he’ll play in Week 9, Williams said, “We’ll see what happens.”
Arizona Cardinals at Cleveland Browns
- Cardinals: RB Emari Demercado (toe); WR Michael Wilson (shoulder); WR Greg Dortch (ankle); OL Trystan Colon (calf); DT Kevin Strong (shoulder); LB Krys Barnes (hamstring);
- Browns: QB Deshaun Watson (right shoulder); RB Jerome Ford (ankle); WR David Bell (knee); TE David Njoku (ankle); OT Jedrick Wills (foot/ankle); OT Dawand Jones (shoulder); EDGE Alex Wright (knee); LB Sione Taktaki (hamstring); LB Anthony Walker (shoulder); CB Greg Newsome II (groin); CB Mike Ford (glute); S Grant Delpit (ankle/shoulder)
Cardinals: Demercado has taken over as Arizona’s starting RB with James Conner sidelined, but he didn’t practice today. Keontay Ingram will become the Cardinals’ RB1 if Demercado has to sit out Week 9.
Wilson also failed to practice after departing Sunday’s game with a shoulder issue. Rondale Moore and Zach Pascal will be in line for more work if Wilson misses a game.
Browns: Watson, sidelined by a shoulder injury for the better part of four games, returned for a limited practice on Wednesday. Head coach Kevin Stefanski hasn’t yet named a starter for Week 9, but P.J. Walker will be under center again if Watson can’t go.
Bell, Njoku, Wills, Jones, Wright, and Newsome failed to practice on Wednesday. Jones and Newsome both left Sunday’s game with injury issues. James Hudson III replaced Jones at right tackle, while Cameron Mitchell played the slot in place of Newsome.
Ford recovered surprisingly quickly from an ankle injury to play last week and told reporters he was feeling better today.
Los Angeles Rams at Green Bay Packers
- Rams: QB Matthew Stafford (right thumb); WR Puka Nacua (knee); WR Austin Trammell (hip); WR Ben Skowronek (Achilles); OT Rob Havenstein (calf); DT Larrell Murchison (knee); LB Ernest Jones (knee); CB Cobie Durant (shoulder); P Ethan Evans (ankle)
- Packers: RB Aaron Jones (hamstring); TE Luke Musgrave (ankle); OT Yosh Nijman (knee); G Elgton Jenkins (knee); CB Jaire Alexander (back)
Rams: Stafford banged his thumb against a Cowboys defender’s helmet on Sunday, then aggravated the injury while hauling in a pass for a two-point conversion. He won’t have to go on IR, but Stafford looks like a game-time decision for Week 9.
Nacua, who played through a groin injury earlier this year, is now dealing with a knee issue. He was limited on Wednesday, suggesting he’ll be ready for Sunday’s game against Green Bay.
Packers: Every injured Green Bay player managed a limited session on Wednesday. All five were limited throughout the week heading into last Sunday’s game and still suited up.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Houston Texans
- Buccaneers: TE Ko Kieft (ankle); OT Tristan Wirfs (quadriceps); G Matt Feiler (knee); DT Logan Hall (groin); S Kaevon Merriweather (ankle)
- Texans: RB Dameon Pierce (ankle); WR Robert Woods (foot); OT Laremy Tunsil (knee); OL Tytus Howard (knee); OL Josh Jones (hand); TE Brevin Jordan (foot); OT George Fant (foot/shoulder); DT Sheldon Rankins (knee); CB Ka’dar Hollman (ankle);
Buccaneers: Feiler missed last week’s game against the Buffalo Bills and has started this week by failing to practice. Aaron Stinnie played left guard in Week 8.
Defensive tackle Vita Vea, who also was sidelined for Week 8, was a full practice participant on Wednesday.
Texans: Pierce did not practice today but has not yet been ruled out for Week 9, per Aaron Wilson of KPRC2. Houston is trying to assess whether letting the second-year RB sit for a week will allow his ankle issue to heal. Devin Singletary is the Texans’ RB2.
Meanwhile, Woods is expected to miss his second straight game with a foot issue. Houston is also dealing with plenty of injuries along its offensive line — nothing new for DeMeco Ryans and Co. — so we’ll need to monitor end-of-week practice reports.
Washington Commanders at New England Patriots
- Commanders: WR Curtis Samuel (toe); OL Ricky Stromberg (knee)
- Patriots: WR DeVante Parker (concussion); TE Pharaoh Brown (back); OT Trent Brown (ankle/knee); OT Calvin Anderson (illness); OT Vederian Lowe (ankle); DT Christian Barmore (knee); DL Deatrich Wise Jr. (shoulder); EDGE Josh Uche (ankle/toe); LB Ja’Whaun Bentley (hamstring); CB Jonathan Jones (knee); CB Myles Bryant (chest)
Commanders: Samuel didn’t practice last Wednesday but returned for limited sessions to close the week and suited up for Week 8. Expect a similar progression this week.

Stromberg suffered what looked like a severe knee injury while blocking on an extra-point attempt. Head coach Ron Rivera said Monday that Washington was waiting for MRI results on Stromberg, but the club hasn’t divulged any details yet.
Patriots: Parker, Pharaoh Brown, Trent Brown, and Anderson failed to practice on Wednesday. Trent Brown was spotted limping out of the locker room following New England’s Week 8 loss to the Dolphins.
Chicago Bears at New Orleans Saints
- Bears: QB Justin Fields, OUT (right thumb); OT Braxton Jones (neck); G Nate Davis (ankle); LB Tremaine Edmunds (knee); CB Terrell Smith (illness); S Jaquan Brisker (concussion)
- Saints: WR Michael Thomas (illness); WR Lynn Bowden Jr. (illness); TE Taysom Hil (hip); OL James Hurst (ankle); OL Andrus Peat (ankle); LB Demario Davis (knee); LB Ty Summers (concussion/hamstring)
Bears: Head coach Matt Eberflus already ruled Fields out earlier this week. Undrafted rookie Tyson Bagent will make his third career start against the Saints.
Elsewhere on offense, Davis hasn’t practiced since going down with an ankle injury in Week 6. Teven Jenkins has been playing right guard in his absence. Jones is still on IR but could be activated before Sunday’s game.
On defense, Edmunds is day to day after injuring his knee in Week 8. Brisker re-entered the NFL’s concussion protocol after experiencing more symptoms on Sunday. Neither defender participated in Wednesday’s walkthrough.
Saints: An illness is clearly making its way around the New Orleans locker room. The Saints have four players with an illness on last week’s injury report and have three more today (including safety Marcus Maye, who fully practiced).
Hurst hasn’t practiced since going down in Week 6. New Orleans has been rolling with a Peat-Max Garcia-Erik McCoy-Cesar Ruiz-Ryan Ramczyk offensive line, preferring to keep 2022 first-rounder Trevor Penning on the bench even with Hurst sidelined.
Indianapolis Colts at Carolina Panthers
- Colts: OT Braden Smith (hip/wrist); EDGE Zaire Franklin (knee); EDGE Dayo Odeyingbo (shoulder/toe); CB JuJu Brents (quad)
- Panthers: RB Rasheem Blackshear (groin); WR DJ Chark (elbow); WR Laviska Shenault Jr. (ankle); TE Hayden Hurst (illness); OT Taylor Moton (knee); G Austin Corbett (knee); EDGE Brian Burns (elbow); EDGE Justin Houston (hamstring); LB Frankie Luvu (hip); LB Chandler Wooten (hamstring); LB Claudin Cherelus (knee); CB Troy Hill (illness); S Vonn Bell
Colts: Smith has already missed two games in a row; Blake Freeland will continue to play right tackle if Smith can’t go on Sunday. Brents was also sidelined in Week 8. The rookie CB’s quad injury was expected to lead to a multi-week absence.
Panthers: Carolina has as long of an injury report as any team in the NFL this week. We’ll have to monitor the club’s Thursday and Friday practices to determine which players are actually in danger of missing Week 9.
New York Giants at Las Vegas Raiders
- Giants: QB Daniel Jones (neck); QB Tyrod Taylor (ribs); RB Saquon Barkley (ankle); WR Wan’Dale Robinson (knee); TE Darren Waller (hamstring); OT Andrew Thomas (hamstring); OT Evan Neal (ankle); EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux (back); K Graham Gano (left knee)
- Raiders: FB Jakob Johnson (concussion); OT Thayer Munford (neck); EDGE Maxx Crosby (knee/ankle); LB Divine Deablo (ankle); LB Robert Spillane (hand); LB Luke Masterson (concussion); CB Nate Hobbs (ankle); K Daniel Carlson (right groin)
Giants: After missing three games with a neck injury, Jones has been cleared for contact and will be under center against the Raiders. With Taylor injured, New York signed veteran QB Matt Barkley to its practice squad this week. He could be elevated to back up Jones if the Giants don’t trust UDFA Tommy DeVito.
While Barkley and Robinson often have maintenance days early in the week, the same can’t be said for Waller. The veteran TE said his hamstring injury “may take a little bit” to heal” and suggested his return timeline is measured in weeks, not days. Daniel Bellinger will step in as long as Waller is sidelined.
Meanwhile, New York could be close to getting its intended offensive line group back into action. Thomas — who’s been out since Week 1– and Neal were limited on Wednesday and could suit up on Sunday.
Raiders: Johnson, Munford, Deablo, Spillane, and Masterson missed Las Vegas’ first post-Josh McDaniels practice on Wednesday. That group includes the Raiders’ three top linebackers, so they may need to promote an LB from the practice squad for Week 9.
Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles
- Cowboys: WR Michael Gallup (illness); OT Tyron Smith (neck); OT Chuma Edoga (ankle); S Jayron Kearse (toe);
- Eagles: RB Boston Scott (personal); TE Grant Calcaterra (concussion); TE Jack Stoll (ankle); G Cam Jurgens (foot); G Sua Opeta (hip); DT Jordan Davis (hamstring); DT Milton Williams (shoulder); CB Bradley Roby (shoulder)
Cowboys: Smith couldn’t play against the Rams last week, but Jerry Jones said the veteran offensive tackle will “more than likely” be ready to face the Eagles on Sunday. Edoga, filling in for Smith at left tackle, went down late against Los Angeles and was limited at practice today.
Eagles: Scott, Calcaterra, and Roby missed practice on Wednesday. Roby, the most significant of those contributors, hasn’t played in two weeks, forcing Philadelphia to devise other solutions in the slot.
Jurgens is still on IR, but the Eagles have opened his practice window. They’ll have to activate him at some point over the next three weeks.
Buffalo Bills at Cincinnati Bengals (SNF)
- Bills: QB Josh Allen (right shoulder); TE Quintin Morris (ankle); LB Baylon Spector (hamstring); CB Kaiir Elam (ankle); S Damar Hamlin (illness)
- Bengals: RB Joe Mixon (chest); OT Orlando Brown Jr. (groin); DT Josh Tupou (shoulder); EDGE Trey Hendrickson (foot); LB Akeem Davis-Gaither (knee); S Tycen Anderson (knee)
Bills: Allen didn’t practice on Wednesday, but head coach Sean McDermott said the veteran QB didn’t suffer a setback with his shoulder issue. Likewise, Allen doesn’t believe his injury will linger and is feeling better every day. He doesn’t appear to be in danger of missing Sunday night’s game against the Bengals.

Morris was limited on Wednesday after missing last week’s win, but every other injured Bill failed to practice today.
Bengals: Hendrickson played through a foot injury in Cincinnati’s win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 8, but he did not practice on Wednesday. It will be worth monitoring the status of the Bengals’ best defensive player throughout the week.
Tupou and Anderson also failed to practice today, while Mixon, Brown, and Davis-Gaither were limited.
Los Angeles Chargers at New York Jets (MNF)
Chargers: TBD
Jets: TBD
