Latest News and Injury Updates Impacting Fantasy

Kyren Williams, RB, Los Angeles Rams

Kyren Williams has been a star for fantasy football this season after flying completely under the radar going into the year. The second-year RB was not being drafted anywhere, but he’s been an incredibly consistent option in fantasy lineups through the first six weeks.

Unfortunately, Williams suffered an ankle injury in Week 6 that is going to potentially sideline him for a little bit.

While it’s encouraging that he left the stadium without a walking boot, he is getting an MRI done on Monday to determine the severity of the injury. Even if the test reveals no significant damage, he’s unlikely to be ready to turn right back around and play in Week 7 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fantasy managers will need to closely monitor this situation as injuries to several other key players — and a bye week for six teams — is going to greatly impact the RB rankings. We’ll continue to update this story with more news as it becomes available, so check back in frequently.

Editor’s note: Williams is likely set to miss multiple games, but should be back after the Week 10 bye.

Ronnie Rivers, RB, Los Angeles Rams

Ronnie Rivers isn’t exactly a household name for fantasy managers, but he would certainly be an intriguing RB waiver wire add in Week 7 due to Williams battling an ankle injury…

Unfortunately, Rivers is also banged up coming out of the team’s battle against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6, and he could miss a few weeks with a possible PCL sprain.

This likely puts Zach Evans as the next man up for the Rams in this backfield. However, a tough matchup against the Steelers should have fantasy managers very hesitant to play him. A former five-star recruit, Evans has the athleticism to make the most of his opportunities, but he has yet to truly live up to expectations.

Make sure to stay tuned to our PFN Consensus Rankings throughout the week to see where exactly Evans lands and if you should trust him in your starting lineup.
