Day 4 of training camp is officially in the books for the Dallas Cowboys.
Today’s session was another day for the team to practice in helmets and protective shirts ahead of their mock game scenario. This will be the Cowboys’ last practice before they bring pads out on Monday.
Latest Practice Report From Dallas Cowboys Training Camp
Injury Updates
During a press conference ahead of camp, head coach Mike McCarthy noted that cornerback Trevon Diggs wouldn’t participate in practice today as a precaution to having a “bruised toe.”
And though McCarthy said that he hoped Diggs would return to practice in the next few days, when Jerry Jones spoke to the media, he said Diggs could be out as late as when the team returns to Dallas.
Contract News
We are on Day 4 of our “Zack Martin watch,” and Jones spoke to the media about where things stand with the All-Pro guard.
Put simply: There has been no movement between the front office and Martin. Jones says the team needs the money to pay guys like Micah Parsons.
7-on-7 Drills
During the 7-on-7 drills, there were a few standout performers and moments:
- Dak Prescott celebrated his 30th birthday with two touchdown passes to wide receivers Brandin Cooks and Ceedee Lamb.
- Wide receiver Dennis Houston was getting significant attention from quarterback Cooper Rush.
Star of the Show
The star of the show today was wide receiver KaVontae Turpin. Today was Turpin’s first day back at camp after taking a leave of absence following the birth of his daughter.
However, it looked like Turpin hadn’t skipped a beat. He came out looking fresh and even faster. Between his ability to shift and spring quickly, it seems that things are in the works for him to be a real offensive threat.
