The New York Giants entered the 2025 season with a rather interesting quarterback room. Two veterans, Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, were on the roster, but the franchise had also drafted Jaxson Dart in the first round to be their signal caller of the future.
Unfortunately, a mixed bag through two weeks paved the way for conversations to begin about Dart potentially being included in the starting lineup. After a Week 1 dud, head coach Brian Daboll did not shy away from that idea. However, a spectacular outing in Week 2 earned Wilson a longer leash. As it turned out, he hadn’t won over fans completely, as one bad half of football, and New York was ready to replace him immediately.
New York Fans Are Already Sick of Russell Wilson
Rather than turning the tide in his favor, the game against the Dallas Cowboys is starting to look like the exception for Wilson. Through three quarters against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football, the veteran quarterback was having one of the worst games of his career.
Converting on just nine of his 15 passing attempts, he had totaled only 70 yards while coughing up two interceptions. As a result, the Giants’ faithful at MetLife Stadium were done with him.

During the game, loud chants of “We Want Dart” could be heard ringing around the venue. Daboll did not make a change entering the fourth quarter. But if it turns out to be another dud from Wilson, making it the second such game in three weeks, then Dart coming in as the starter for Week 4 wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility.
The fans at MetLife got their wish for a brief moment in the fourth quarter. Trailing 16-6, the Giants brought in their first-round pick for a few snaps. While he did not get any passing plays designed for him, he did record a rushing attempt for three yards.
Dart also had a similar opportunity during the game against Dallas. He primarily received a couple of handoffs during his time behind center. But on his lone rushing attempt that night, he went backwards, losing three yards.
