Who Are the Best Superflex Players To Draft in Dynasty?
The dynasty landscape is beginning to see a massive shift in value, with a substantial free agency class hitting the market and a high-profile draft class that just found their new homes. That has an impact on dynasty drafts and how managers balance their teams.
When in doubt, draft young. Look at players like Chris Olave and Amon-Ra St. Brown, for example. Olave, my WR10 currently, is coming off a massive season, but there’s still room for improvement, and he’s yet to reach anywhere near his ceiling.
Olave caught 72 of his 119 targets for 1,042 yards, and the only thing that held him back was his four touchdowns, as he finished as the WR27 in points per game at 13.2 PPR. However, he was 10th in targets per route run and yards per route run (YPRR) at 2.42, plus seventh in open rate.
Additionally, Olave had the fifth-highest air-yard share at 38.65% and was No. 4 in deep targets with 29. Throw in a path to over 130 targets, despite Michael Thomas’ return, and Olave is a massive target of mine.
The same goes for St. Brown, someone I’ve been championing since his freshman year at USC, it feels like. Recording the eighth-highest target share at 28.08%, St. Brown was 11th in points per game at 16.7 PPR and finished as the WR7 overall. He tied A.J. Brown with 146 targets and was one of only seven receivers to record over 100 receptions (106).
St. Brown recorded 1,161 yards and six touchdowns and is easily inside the first round of 2023 dynasty mock drafts. St. Brown’s upside on a per-target basis should increase, especially with Jameson Williams suspended to start the year.

Running back is much tougher to evaluate with complete faith since value can decrease if players struggle in Year 1. Still, players like Breece Hall (RB3), Javonte Williams (RB14), and Travis Etienne Jr. (RB9) are sensational RB1s with youth on their side.
Although, Williams is a bit of a question as to his effectiveness in 2022 due to his knee recovery. I’d also feel as comfortable snagging J.K. Dobbins on a discount right now (RB19).
I’d also want to point out Najee Harris and Roschon Johnson. Harris walked out of the draft a winner and saw his dynasty stock go up (RB8). He was the RB8 overall and ninth in PPG (15.3) from Weeks 10-17 and has an upgraded offensive line with Isaac Seumalo, Nate Herbig, and Brodrick Jones, plus TE Darnell Washington, who is one of the best run-blocking tight ends in the last 10 years.
Johnson (RB35), on the other hand, is who I feel will be the Bears’ starting RB by no later than Week 4 and is a true three-down back with power and pass-catching upside. I am very bullish on his future.
As for QBs, I recommend going early in Superflex dynasty drafts, as their value will never be cheaper than on draft day. As many saw/experienced last season, not having two upper-tier QBs will drastically set you back.
Prioritize players like Justin Fields (QB7), Trevor Lawrence (QB6), and even Deshaun Watson (QB10). I also believe Kenny Pickett (QB18) is undervalued, as people seem to want to find reasons not to think he will be the Steelers’ long-term solution.
But the more youth and upside you can add to your dynasty roster, the more likely you’ll be able to ride the ebbs and flows of the dynasty season. He is my recommendation for managers who are QB-needy but don’t have a realistic shot at Anthony Richardson, Bryce Young, or C.J. Stroud.
