Top Fantasy Options at RB Include Breece Hall, Travis Etienne Jr., and Bijan Robinson

One of the hardest positions to value in dynasty fantasy football leagues is running back. Even more so this year when several starters have hit free agency and shaken up the landscape before a talented class of rookies further complicated matters. Therefore, our dynasty RB rankings are here to help fantasy managers evaluate which players are the ones to target this offseason and who might be best to move on from as we look ahead to 2023.

Top Dynasty Running Back Rankings

The below rankings are intended as a guide for PPR formats. They do not take into account individual league rules and setups. These rankings now include the rookie options that were selected during and after the 2023 NFL Draft. To see how those options rank on their own, check out our 2023 dynasty rookie rankings.

Who Are the Best Running Backs To Draft in Dynasty?

If someone had a crystal ball that could tell us how the offseason would play out at running back, they would be a multi-millionaire at this point because this is as volatile of a market as I can remember.

With names like Saquon Barkley (RB5), Josh Jacobs (RB7), Tony Pollard (RB12), Miles Sanders (RB22), David Montgomery (RB33), Kareem Hunt (RB58), Damien Harris (RB45), Rashaad Penny (RB42), and Devin Singletary (RB52) all having hit the open market or tagged, chaos has shown its head and changed the landscape quite a bit.

Not to mention the trade of D’Andre Swift to the Eagles after they selected Jahmyr Gibbs. After first a loser from the draft, Swift turned back into a winner, which was a virtual wash in his pre/post-draft rankings.

Rachaad White is also a very intriguing name that is already rising in value (RB23) following the release of Leonard Fournette and Tampa Bay not adding anyone during the draft except Syracuse RB Sean Tucker as a UDFA. At 214 pounds with sub-4.5 speed and receiving versatility, White has lead-back upside.

We saw this start last season. In Weeks 10 through 17, White averaged 15 touches and over 70 yards per game, which would be a 17-game pace of over 1,200 yards on 275 touches, with over 70 coming in the passing game while playing on 49% of the snaps.

If he even sniffs that volume level, White could close in on high-end RB2 status in 2023, if not more.

I’m also a massive proponent of adding Roschon Johnson when the opportunity arises. At 6’2″, 223 pounds, Johnson didn’t blow the doors of the NFL Combine, but he still tested well for his size, posting an 8.67 RAS.

But all you have to do is just put on the tape. Johnson’s a physical, in-your-face rusher with more wiggle than expected. In fact, his 45% forced-missed-tackle rate over the last two years was No. 1 in the country (minimum 190 attempts). Johnson’s also a plus receiver out of the backfield, catching 56 of 74 targets for 420 yards and three touchdowns.

What on the Chicago Bears roster is standing in the way of this happening? You have a 27-year-old D’Onta Foreman who is on a cheap one-year deal and coming off a 203-carry season, and then there’s Khalil Herbert, who’s flashed at times but is not attached to the new regime in Chicago. Johnson is the starting RB by Week 4, in my opinion, and I don’t see him relinquishing the role anytime soon.
