Even relegated to a chair, Caitlin Clark couldn’t contain her trademark fire. The Indiana Fever star, sidelined since June 26 by a stubborn groin strain, prowled the bench on July 3 like a general.
Every steal, every fast‑break dunk, every defensive stop felt personal because for Clark, it’s never “just a game.”
When head coach Stephanie White erupted in a sideline protest late in the fourth quarter, earning a technical foul, Clark leapt to her feet, clapped, and gave a perfectly timed high‑five to her coach. It was the most delightful moment of a night in which the Fever dominated the Las Vegas Aces 81-54 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Caitlin Clark’s Bench High‑Five Highlights Stephanie White’s Tech in Fever’s Rout of Aces
Late in the game, with Indiana up by 23 and less than six minutes remaining, White charged toward the nearest official, signalling and demanding a call that never came. The referee finally reached her tipping point, signaling a technical foul against White for unsportsmanlike conduct.
The Prime Video broadcast immediately cut to Clark, who sprang out of her seat, flexed her arms, clapping intensely with a proud grin on her face. The arena erupted, not in disgust, but in pure Fever fandom.

In the postgame media session, reporters asked White whether her outburst was driven by pent‑up frustration or a strategic statement. With a wry smile, White deflected the notion of raw emotion, insisting it was “more to just making a point” than letting frustrations boil over.
“Yeah, I don’t know about frustrations boiling over as more to just like making a point,” White said with a shrug. She then revealed that Clark had already volunteered to cover her coach’s fine. “Caitlin said she’s got me, though,” White chuckled. “So, she just got a bonus.”

The quip from White is an apt reminder that Indiana would not go quietly, even when the outcome was all but decided.
Fever’s Balanced Attack Overwhelms Aces in Home Win
The Fever shot 49.2% from the field (31‑of‑63), outrebounded Las Vegas 37-26, and forced 17 turnovers. Indiana’s suffocating defense held the Aces to a below-par 26.2% shooting, including just 3‑of‑16 from three-point range.
After building a 22‑point halftime advantage behind a 25-10 second‑quarter run, Indiana cruised to its 9th win of the season.
Kelsey Mitchell led with 25 points and dished out six assists. Aliyah Boston recorded 20 points and seven boards, while Natasha Howard provided 11 points on 4‑of‑8 shooting. But it was Aari McDonald’s +26 plus/minus that strengthened Fever’s assault. She ended the night with eight points, seven boards, and seven assists.
Las Vegas’ veteran center A’ja Wilson scored a game-high 29 points with 9‑of‑18 shooting and three boards. But the rest of her team struggled to score beyond four to six points.
The attending 16,509 crowd knew that the Aces were no match for the Fever tonight, as Indiana sealed an 81-54 home victory. Indiana Fever will enjoy a brief home respite before facing the Los Angeles Sparks on July 5. They will host opponents at Gainbridge till July 13, with a matchup against Paige Bueckers’ Dallas Wings.
Meanwhile, Clark’s groin recovery remains on a day‑to‑day basis, and whether she will join her team on court during Saturday’s game will be updated later.
