Cowboys insiders are hinting that ‘something big’ is brewing in Dallas but what is it? Ranking five possible options for a big move.
Whether it’s because of Jerry Jones’ presence or something else, there always feels like an expectation that the Dallas Cowboys have a blockbuster move up their sleeve. To be sure, they don’t always make it. But the undercurrent that it could happen is always there, whether it’s a big signing, a massive trade or something else.
And it’s happening again. The latest Cowboys rumors suggest that Dallas is cooking up something big early in the 2023 offseason. Bryan Broaddus on his Love of the Star podcast noted that the buzz from team insiders in Indianapolis was that there was “something big” brewing.
The question is now what that “something big” actually is. Looking around the league at the potential blockbuster moves that the Cowboys could make this offseason, we’re ranking five possible “something big” moves that the team could be working on in terms of how good they’d ultimately be for the team and how excited fans would be.

5. Cowboys rumors: Signing Odell Beckham Jr. would be big but not all that exciting
You simply couldn’t escape the Cowboys rumors that Odell Beckham Jr. was going to join America’s Team. And really, it probably would’ve actually happened if the wide receiver coming off a torn ACL suffered in Super Bowl 56 would’ve been healthy enough to contribute right away. Of course, that wasn’t the case, so a deal never materialized.
Now, OBJ will be several more months removed from the injury and, in theory, should be ready to contribute come Week 1 of the regular season. He’s looked at as one of the best wide receivers on the free agent market. Dallas needs help at the position. When you start connecting the dots about the in-season interest, it would make sense for Jones to move on this now.
It would also be admittedly disappointing. Part of that is the idea of hyping up a big move to only sign a player who the majority of the fan base thought would be on the roster in November or December of last year.
However, it also comes down to the fit of Beckham in this offense. He would help, without question. At the same time, though, he’s quite redundant at this stage of his career with what CeeDee Lamb does best, or at least that was the case during his run with the Rams. Making a big splash to not add a dimension just doesn’t seem like the best option.
