Rafael Nadal’s sister, Maribel, recently reacted to Jaume Munar’s message following Team Spain’s performance at the Davis Cup. Despite not having Carlos Alcaraz in their team, who withdrew from the tournament due to a right thigh injury, the Spanish team reached the Davis Cup final before losing to Italy.
The 2025 Davis Cup Finals took place earlier this month at the SuperTennis Arena Bologna Fiere in Bologna, Italy. In addition to Spain and Italy, countries like Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, the Czech Republic, and Argentina also competed.

Team Spain consisted of Munar, Pablo Carreño Busta, Pedro Martínez, Marcel Granollers, and captain David Ferrer. In the final, Spain faced the two-time defending champions, Italy, and lost 0-2.
In the first singles match, Carreño Busta lost 3-6, 4-6 to Matteo Berrettini which resulted in Italy taking the lead. Then, Flavio Cobolli edged out Munar 1-6, 7-6(5), 7-5 to seal a 2-0 victory for Italy.
After the defeat, Munar took to social media to share a series of pictures from the tournament, stating that it had been an “emotionally incredible” week for him. He expressed his gratitude to the entire Spanish team and the fans for their support and belief in them.
“The pride I feel is indescribable. It’s been an emotionally incredible week. We played with our hearts on our sleeves and gave our absolute best. Thank you to everyone who supported us, in Bologna and at home. Pablo, Pedro, and Marcel, thank you for being the kind of teammates everyone would want. Thank you, Ferru and Marc, for believing in us and pushing us to keep believing no matter the situation ❤️🔥,” Munar captioned his Instagram post.

The Spaniard also congratulated Italy on winning their third consecutive Davis Cup title and praised the Italian team for their hard work from the “grassroots” level to the top of the sport.
“Congratulations to Italy on their third consecutive Davis Cup title. An excellent demonstration of the hard work done, for many years, from the grassroots to the top of our sport. Especially to Flavio, Matteo, Lorenzo, Andrea, Simone, and Filippo. I think it was a final between two teams that are truly a cohesive unit, regardless of who their players are. Congratulations on the fantastic team you’ve assembled!” he continued.
Munar thanked Bologna for its hospitality, acknowledged that the loss “hurts,” but remained optimistic, stating that Team Spain would return as “better” players, better prepared for the next time.
“Thank you Bologna for welcoming us and for making us feel all of this. As a home player in Marbella, and as a visitor in Bologna, I can say that I experienced the true Davis Cup atmosphere. Another dream come true. Thank you for your hospitality 🤗 It still hurts today, but with time and perspective, everything will be clearer. And one thing is certain: we will return, we will return as better players and better prepared. Time to rest and disconnect,” Munar added.
Reacting to Munar’s message after Spain’s runner-up finish, Nadal’s sister Maribel shared his post on her social media page and added three clapping hands emojis.
“👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻,” Maribel captioned her Instagram story.
It’s worth noting that Rafael Nadal, who turned professional in 2001, retired from tennis after representing Spain at the 2024 Davis Cup Finals.
