NFL rumors lighting up the league include a battle for OBJ in New York, the Colts laying breadcrumbs to Lamar Jackson and the 49ers pondering a huge trade.

The league meetings for the NFL have created a million headlines this week from the Packers appearing to soften their asking price for Aaron Rodgers to the unexpected voice pushing Robert Kraft to bring Lamar Jackson to New England.

The fact that the NFL is commanding so much attention with March Madness reaching its peak and MLB Opening Day around the corner is just more proof that the league never rests and always owns the news cycle.

So, of course, there’s even more to sort through. Here’s a look at some of the top NFL rumors running around the mill:

Sean Payton clearly trying to make Russell Wilson uncomfortable

Former Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham has been in the league since 2019 and no one has confused home for a full-time starter in the NFL. Even the Raiders, who entrusted him with two starts in 2022, let hm walk to sign a two-year deal with the Broncos this offseason.

That’s not stopping head coach Sean Payton from talking up the 26-year-old.

“We feel like he can become an NFL starter,” Payton said, per Andrew Mason of DenverSports.com. “Quietly, that was an important signing for us.”

Payton can say all he wants about Stidham’s starting ability, we all know the reality: If Stidham needs to start for the Broncos then something has gone very wrong.

This feels a whole lot more like a motivational tactic for Russell Wilson, who didn’t exactly have to worry about Brett Rypien taking his job despite dismal performance after dismal performance in 2022.
