The Pittsburgh Steelers rolled the dice on three veterans in the offseason.
And while it’s been just one game, they have to feel pretty great about what they did.
D.K. Metcalf only needed four receptions to log 83 receiving yards, and Aaron Rodgers turned back the clock in Week 1 with 244 passing yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions while completing 22 of 30 passes.
But while the offense took most of the credit and the headlines, Jalen Ramsey also had an outstanding debut with his new team.
As pointed out by PFF on X, he had an 87.5 coverage grade.
In 24 coverage snaps, he allowed a grand total of six receiving yards, and he also forced a couple of incompletions.

Ramsey talked smack to Garrett Wilson all day long, and he capped off his impressive debut with a huge hit on the New York Jets’ wide receiver to seal the win.
Of course, Ramsey is no longer at the peak of his powers, and expecting him to be the same top-tier cornerback he was during his prime days might be wishful thinking.
Then again, he’s still a proven veteran with a ton of experience, and, more importantly, he’s a fierce competitor who’s never going to give up on any play.
He brings that competitive fire to the table, and he’s the type of veteran who will lead by action and make everybody around him better as well.
The Steelers’ defense wasn’t as stout as it seemed in the first game of the week, but they should fare much better going forward, and they won’t give up 32 points very often.
