Aaron Rodgers Had Telling Comments About His Future With Jets

The New York Jets may need to make some major changes this offseason if they are to reverse many years of ineptitude and bad fortune.

They fired Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas, who had served as head coach and general manager, respectively, this season, and their permanent replacements could signal something of a shift in organizational philosophy.

But a lot of that could hinge on what quarterback Aaron Rodgers decides to do.

He’s not sure if he wants to return to the team next season, and when asked if people in the organization have said they want him back, he gave an interesting answer.

“A lot of people have, yeah,” said Rodgers. “Not the people that are making those decisions.”

At this point, one has to wonder if Rodgers sticking around would even be a good thing for a Jets organization.

There was plenty of excitement when the team traded for him in the 2023 offseason, as he was surrounded by a strong cast on both sides of the football.

But he tore his Achilles on New York’s first offensive series of 2023, and this season, it has become clear that he’s over the hill.

On the season, he has thrown for 2,627 yards, 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions for the 3-9 Jets, and he clearly lacks the mobility to evade pressure.

Even trading for Davante Adams, the star wide receiver who had partnered with Rodgers on the Green Bay Packers, hasn’t been enough to restore Rodgers to his old level of play he was at for so many years in Green Bay.
