For the first time since 2021, the NCAA Volleyball Championships will witness a new champion on the wall of honor. On one side will be the trendsetters from Kentucky, who aim to end their five-year-old title drought.
On the other side are the trailblazers from Texas A&M University, who have recreated history by making their debut in the finals of the NCAA Championships. Their previous best performance was a final-eight finish way back in 2001!
NCAA Volleyball [Women’s] Championship Game Preview – Kentucky Wildcats vs. Texas A&M Aggies
The final game of the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championships will be played between the Kentucky Wildcats and the Texas A&M Aggies at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri, tomorrow. For the first time since 2020, the Wildcats have qualified for the final clash.
Their previous best performance in between was a quarterfinal finish in the 2024 edition. The SEC champions of the current edition had a relatively smooth ride until the semifinals, where the Wisconsin Badgers [who had won the 2021 Championships] forced them to fight it out till the final set.
On the other hand, head coach Jamie Morrison inspired the Texas A&M Aggies to a dream run like never before. In the Round of 16, the Aggies stunned the previous edition’s runner-up, the Louisville Cardinals, to blaze through the final eight. The story had just begun, for the Nebraska Cornhuskers were next in line.
Despite the best efforts, coach Dani Busboom Kelly’s Huskers were forced to walk out as the Aggies qualified for a historic semifinal. However, the journey wasn’t over yet, as the Maroon and Red team bulldozed the Pittsburgh Panthers by 3-0 to qualify for a historic final, something no other team from the institution had ever attempted before.
