What Dani Busboom Kelly Said About the Nebraska Volleyball Team’s Sweep Victory Against Kansas State in the NCAA

Head coach of the Nebraska Volleyball team, Dani Busboom Kelly, recently shared her opinion on the Nebraska Volleyball team’s performance against the Kansas State Wildcats in the second round of the NCAA Championships. This is her debut NCAA Championship as the head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers [which she represented as a player from 2003 to 2006].

Nebraska won the game against the Wildcats by 3-0. However, the head coach made it clear that the team has no option but to avoid complacency.

The head coach of the Nebraska Volleyball team sat down for a post-match press conference alongside co-skipper of the team Bergen Reilly and veteran outside hitter Harper Murray. Kelly was happy about the result but also gave due credit to the Wildcats, revealing that they almost overwhelmed the Cornhuskers for a while.

The head coach added further as she said,

“Yeah, I thought really good match. Kansas State played great. You know, they really challenged us in a lot of areas and thought this was one of the first matches in a while. We had to gut it out with our serve and pass and floor defense, which is kind of like classic Nebraska Volleyball.”

The Nebraska Volleyball team will now rest for a while before competing at their home ground, i.e., the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

The Cornhuskers faced the LIU Sharks in the opening game of the 2025 NCAA Championships, followed by the Wildcats in the second round. Although both teams competed well, neither could convert promising starts into a tough fight, as the Huskers won both matches without conceding a single set.

The Nebraska Volleyball team aims to repeat the streak they last achieved in 2000. Under the former head coach John Cook, the Cornhuskers had remained invincible throughout 2000 to win the NCAA Championships for the second time since 1995. This was Cook’s first season as the head coach, and she led the Nebraska Volleyball team to unprecedented glory.
