While the Patriots and Broncos sit atop the NFL at 9-2, the New York Giants have fallen to the opposite end of the spectrum at 2-9, barely ahead of only the Titans at 1-9. Despite the dismal record and a season-ending injury, rookie running back Cam Skattebo remains confident about the franchise’s immediate direction heading into 2026.
Skattebo has maintained an optimistic outlook even while sidelined. During a recent appearance with YouTuber N3on, the 23-year-old outlined his expectations for the Giants’ turnaround next season without hesitation.
“Next year’s gonna be pretty insane. I’m gonna say we’re gonna go 12-5 regular season and then playoffs obviously,” Skattebo said.

New York has endured a difficult stretch, losing five consecutive games. The firing of head coach Brian Daboll mid-season signaled major organizational change, yet the roster has found reasons for optimism.
Much of that sentiment surrounds Skattebo and rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, two young players who energized an offense that had stalled through much of the season. The pair delivered their most notable performance in Week 6 when the Giants defeated the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles 34-17.
Skattebo’s bruising running style earned quick league recognition, and he accumulated seven touchdowns across eight games before suffering a leg injury in late October. The injury occurred on a routine catch when Skattebo’s right leg twisted beneath him, resulting in an open ankle dislocation that required an air cast at the scene.
Emergency surgery followed, revealing additional damage, including a fractured fibula and torn deltoid ligament. The procedure ended his season, forcing the Giants to spend the remainder of 2025 without their emerging star while he focuses on rehabilitation and recovery for the long journey back to the field.
