Packers WR Rumored To Get Contract Extension

The Green Bay Packers are moving toward keeping Romeo Doubs long-term rather than exploring a trade.

The veteran wide receiver has caught four touchdowns through the first four games of his contract year, prompting early extension discussions between his camp and the organization.

Despite speculation about his future, Green Bay views Doubs as a core piece of their offensive plans moving forward.

Reports surfaced this week indicating the Packers have initiated conversations about locking up Doubs beyond this season.

“There are rumblings that the #Packers are looking to extend WR Romeo Doubs,” 105.7 The Fan shared.

His strong start has elevated his standing within the receiving room and increased his market value heading into unrestricted free agency.

Doubs entered the season on a $3.4 million base salary in the final year of his rookie contract after being selected in the fourth round during 2022.

Green Bay added Matthew Golden in the first round and Savion Williams in the third round of this year’s draft while also extending Christian Watson on a one-year deal.

With Jordan Love and Micah Parsons already commanding significant cap space, the front office faces budget considerations when evaluating Doubs’ future.

Through four games, Doubs ranks second on the team with 19 targets, 13 receptions, and 179 receiving yards.

His four touchdown catches tie him for third league-wide entering Week 5.

Although his previous seasons have not exceeded 700 receiving yards, his steady improvement and current production make him an intriguing candidate in a free agent market that continues to inflate receiver salaries.
