The Cleveland Browns have had a decent-ish start to the year, but it certainly hasn’t been perfect.
After opening with two straight losses, they most recently secured their first win, a 13-10 home victory over the Green Bay Packers. Unfortunately for Cleveland fans, more bad news is coming out. Tight end David Njoku was limited in Wednesday’s practice due to a knee concern.
What is the Status Update on David Njoku Entering Week 4?
Njoku most recently logged a 76 percent snap share while catching five of his seven targets for 40 yards in the previously referenced Week 3 win over Green Bay. He also posted a season-high in catches with five.
According to NBC Sports and common NFL knowledge, the New Jersey native is a regular on the Browns’ injury report and has played through more than his fair share of issues. Njoku has previously been inactive for brief stints due to other knee problems, as well as hamstring and ankle injuries.
Njoku’s listed limitations were maintenance-related, but his presence on Cleveland’s initial Week 4 injury report makes his status worth monitoring.

Wearing No. 85 for the Browns, Njoku was initially drafted by Cleveland as the No. 29 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, coming out of Miami.
As a Hurricane during the very year before his draft selection, he caught 43 passes totaling 698 yards with eight touchdowns. He earned All-ACC Honorable Mention recognition from the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA).
Since then, the league veteran has appeared in 109 games; Njoku’s career stats so far are 3,886 yards and 30 touchdowns across 363 receptions. Defensively, he also has 12 total tackles, all of which are solo.
Other players for Cleveland not practicing included Denzel Ward (shoulder), Shelby Harris (hamstring), and Mike Hall Jr. (knee).

Should Njoku be out, it’s expected that fellow tight end Harold Fannin will see more action. Against the Packers, Fannin was on the field for 64 percent of the team’s snaps on offense en route to recording a 3-25-0 receiving line on four targets.
Regardless of Njoku and others’ status, the Browns will travel to Ford Field to take on the Detroit Lions (2-1) on Sunday; kick-off is slated for 1:00 p.m. EST.
