The New York Giants were very close to the No. 1 pick.
Unfortunately, a win down the stretch of last season cost them that.
Even so, they still might get the best player in this class.
According to a report by Jordan Raanan (via SNY Giants), they will host Penn State star Abdul Carter for a visit today.
Per @JordanRaanan, the Giants are hosting Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter for a visit today and tomorrow.

Carter is considered to be either the best or second-best prospect in this class, with Travis Hunter as the only player close to him.
He looks like a generational talent at defensive end, as he’s drawn comparisons to fellow Nittany Lion Micah Parsons.
The Giants were eager to find a new quarterback in the offseason.
They first tried to trade for Matthew Stafford, but couldn’t make it happen.
Then, they signed both Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson.
That’s why, even though they are reportedly interested in Shedeur Sanders, they might choose not to take him even if the Cleveland Browns pass on him at No. 2.
Carter wreaked havoc off the line of scrimmage over and over in college.
He’s a foundational piece to build a defense around.
Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen know that they can’t afford another losing season if they are going to keep their jobs.
So, now that they signed their veteran quarterback and hope to compete at a high level, they can afford to focus on their defense and get the best and most well-rounded defensive prospect entering the league this season, provided he’s still available by the time they’re on the clock.
